  1. So that's why they call them Clipons!
  2. Call Luke at 9 13 7 8 7 25 62 and tell him Lowell sent you. He's the VP.
  3. GC, you are correct; my bad. It's the two tens that are 39 and 41. So it goes 18, 16, 14, then 13, 12, 11, then 10.75 and 10.25. Nate and a few bother with 9.75. Thanks for the correction.
  4. blakeyates, just in case you don't get the American version on the app for whatever reason, allow me to give you a simple aid. One does not have to know the metric fractions, just memorize the whole numbers. Metric is 18, 16, 14 for 15off, 22off, 28off, respectively. Note a reduction of 2 per length, starting with 18. The next three in metric are 13, 12, 11, which goes with 32off, 35off, and 38off. Note a reduction of 1 per length. Then 10, then 9 for 39off and 41off. So let it flow, oh so natural.... 18, 16, 14 (15, 22, 28), then 13, 12, 11 (32, 35, 38), then 10, 9 (39, 41). Nate is about the only one who needs to differentiate the 2 nines (9.75 and 9.25)!! The rest of us mortals can read 9 as 41off. As for speed, the differences are always in 3s, beginning at the top with 58K or 36mph. So the next tournament max is 55K, 52K, etc., corresponding with our American 34, 32, etc. There you have it, easy to memorize and apply. You're welcome.
  5. Words of wisdom from the great Ken White. "We pull in the shower, but we lean on the rope."
  6. We have a setup as one would find at any filling station: hose and pump handle coming from our 500 gallon tank. Trust me, we have tried every combo with the handle from barely in to full insertion, different angles, the works. Perhaps the side vents or the overflow is restricting flow? I know the two MCs we have take on fuel, no splash, no kickback, no feathering needed, full on pressure, no problem. It is a CC problem and just ridiculous unless we are missing something with the vents. Help!
  7. Ballers, unless I am doing something wrong, it is my contention that the CC engineers responsible for Nautique gas tanks should be summarily dismissed, if not outright shot at the next dawn. At our lake we have a 2005, 2010, 2011, 2013, and now a 2017. Every one of them will spit back at you within 2 seconds of trying to fill them, getting gas everywhere, including on the operator. So one feathers the delivery for 5 minutes until their hand is sore, and there is still every possibility of an eruption. What in the world? What can be done? Someone save us! Or do we have to live with it?
  8. Marcus, thank you. Carry on with the good work, please.
  9. I'm on board, totally agree with all the accolades and compliments for the FlowPoint series. However, MB, why the need to curse as a profane sailor talking to his friends? I've noticed it in every episode and wonder what kids must be thinking as they watch. You know, the very kids we want to educate and remember our history as a sport as they are watching an X rated for language series. I understand I'm the fuddyduddy, way behind the Hollywood standard of "everyone talks like this". But they don't, and you have a chance to be different, Marcus, a chance to bring a little civility into the conversation without the F word being a requirement for one on one conversation. You can't control your subject's language, without editing, but you certainly can control yours, setting a great example for kids that yes, it's possible to express yourself and converse without copying cable TV and embarrassing Popeye the Sailor Man. Carry on, please.
  10. So.....how does one do that? I have a PC, Windows 7 Pro. Speak English, please.
  11. Could someone be so kind as to translate the Greek language chart above to us poor saps out here in Dogpatch?
  12. Anybody able to rattle the cages at Beyond The Wake? Placed an Oct 5 order with them, thanks to this thread, and have not heard a word since. They sure took my PayPal money, but no response to my email and no human answering their phone. As for a return phone call from the last 2 days, left on their machine? Nothing. Zero. Nada. What gives?
  13. I'm sure Florida and parts of S California are good places for the Winter, but so is S Texas. We ski year round in Houston and have had several snow birds through the years join us for a few months. We have covered boat storage and lots of rental property nearby. Drop me an email if interested. khoover at wt.net
  14. Not sure of the contact person but their plans are to be at Princeton Lakes on Saturday, October 5. They will have lots of HO skis for demo.
  15. LakePort is Lowell 7one3eight7five8five4six Lakes of Katy is Kelvin 8three2four2eight5four6three
  16. Wade Cox and Chris Parrish are bringing their HO Skis road show to Texas next week. They will be in NE Houston at LakePort on Wednesday afternoon, October 2. Then on Thursday morning, October 3, they will be at the beautiful Lakes of Katy in SW Houston. They are also planning on Austin, San Marcos, and Dallas that same weekend. Join us as 2 of the greatest slalom legends in the sport will be displaying the great product line of HO Skis. It will be a thrill a minute around those 2, never a dull moment. We look forward to your joining us if at all possible.
  17. Well, Ballers, isn't this special. Have been informed by Simpson that his waiver request to ski at Natls has been denied by the EVP of the Southern Region. Wonderful! Let's chase away a rookie who made a horrible rookie mistake and show him, by Golly, that rules are a heck of a lot more important than individuals. Adios! Don't forget your Tshirt and your Koozee and see you at Natls. No! Sorry! Not at Natls as we have way too many entries as it is and we enjoy limiting participation. And to think several of us were encouraging him to enter tournaments and have a great time with nothing but great people. Just another reason, in a constantly expanding list, why our sport is going the way of dinosaurs. I haven't skied tourneys in many moons but have always been a Supporting Member of AWSA, proudly so. No mas. Color me gone.
  18. Thanks so much, Ballers. Yall have been about as helpful as a boat in the Baja. You could have at least made up something to ease my pain. Good Grief.
  19. My family has come up with the wonderful idea of visiting Belize in July, a place that will be hotter and more humid than Houston. If that is possible. I know, just brilliant. Anyone know of any water skiing going on?
  20. Very nice article, Ron, but not near enough credit given to Lisa for putting up with such a geezer as yourself. Hope yall have a wonderful Summer and remember the welcome mat is always out in Houston.
  21. We had a great time with Wade on Wednesday but it was entirely due to Kelvin and Lakes of Katy stepping up. Much of Houston had severe flooding and the host site was completely flooded, the course nowhere to be seen. We made a call to Kelvin and he invites us there, using his sweet 2019 SN promo, and opening his house to the 6 skiers who showed. Great time, great site, great host, great boat, great coach...well, you know, it was just great. It shows once again the closeness and welcoming attitude of nearly everyone in our sport, especially Ballers. Thanks Kelvin and Lisa.
  22. We swerved with Nautique at the outstanding Lakes of Katy with the lovely and gracious Whitney. What a sweetheart she be. Thanks CC and HO for a really nice event and thanks to Kelvin and Lisa for their hospitality.
