  1. @jkill_88 all the people I have skied with are very supportive to increase the ability of others. You do however need to have time behind a boat that you do not feel is taking away from others. If this is the case then your chances of making significant improvement is very limited because of the situation. A very good skier once told me that for everyone of us skiers when we are skiing our hardest level it is as demanding for each of us. At each of our own levels we fight the same challenges and we need dedicated time and help to overcome them. Your time in the course is as important to you as the time more skilled people spend in the course is to them. Ability level should not dictate course time. It sounds from your post that you need some "informed" help with either a different ski pick or help setting up the one you have. If you are firstly not comfortable on the stick you have it is just one more distraction to progress. If you can swing it a trip to somewhere else were someone who makes a living coaching others will be that would be a good step. Some even do video coaching and that is another option. Anyway welcome to the addiction, keep skiing and kick some ass in the course.
  2. Spent a few days there with Wim. The lake is fantastic. It is large enough that there are no sight line issues. The set up's are really long. Ed and Wim are putting together a skiing experience that for me simply puts "works" Here is a view from the end of the lake giving a perspective of the lake to course dimensions. kbsx6oo2rapz.jpg

I have a video of a pass to give an idea but it seems it is to large to post. I may have to ask @Horton how if possible I can post it.

  3. @Horton , I ride MTB's nearly everyday here in Colorado and as you know I have been known to turn up in BAKO to bum a ski set or 2. The terrain around your lake does not require any special bike. If your looking for new go to a sports store and look around. You don't need all the suspension stuff as it adds weight unless its an expensive bike. The frame for my Santa Cruz was 4K on its own. The Cruizer bikes with a follow behind would be fun, but as my daughters said" Dad can I have my own bike so I don't have to look at your bottom?". The single speed would also work. I wouldn't invest a ton of money as you have much more fun ways of getting to the end of the lake and probably after a year your going to be bored of going in circles.
  4. Agreeing to dis-agree with @EFW. In my experience when I am skiing sets the Camaro is easier and just as warm as my drysuit. When I am adjusting buoys my dry-suit is way warmer than the Camaro. I and the people at my lake that have tried the Camaro's never ski in their drysuit's anymore. If at this time of the year you need to spend a lot of time in the water versus skiing I also would not suggest considering the Camaro. We have more complaints about hands and feet getting cold when skiing by people wearing Camaros versus body cold. I for one cannot do anything once my hands are cold. The water here is getting into the low 50's and will soon be into the 40's. At about 45 I will be done mainly because of hand issues versus being cold in a Camaro. I am only relating what we do here in Colorado at the lake we ski at. Maybe in more humid climates the Camaro may not work as well.
  5. @6balls I have the camaro vest and love it. It is longer than other vests and has lasted quite well. 2 full seasons March-Nov 3 times a week, 2 to 3 sets a day. The first one I had had some stitching issues that they replaced the complete vest at no cost to me after a season of use. I have a couple of Eagles that are good but I like the Camaro more. Probably just a personal preference thing versus a product quality thing. I now have 2 full Camaro wetsuits and the original I am keeping going with Aquaseal. It has lasted at least 3 winter seasons and I think I can stretch it one more. The rubber on the knees and shoulders is starting to separate into mini chunks that I Aquaseal back together to stop water egress. Oops I have the black tec 2.0 now 1.5 full suits. I also have the Modtec silver 0.5 top and a black tec 1.5 top. The silver top is looking ragged because the silver wears off. Still works fine for warmth.
  6. @"76S&S" That looks like the one I have. Had to get some barb type screw in fitting to insert the strainer into the hot and cold feeds to the shower. Mine was all a Home Depot and RV parts home made system. Love the hot water for the hands and wet suit initial fill now and in the Spring. Water below 55 is hard on the Hands.
  7. @jerrym Takeoff for the hot side is a tee in the input hoses to the heater and is about 1 ft from were the tee is attached. It is probably 3 ft from the heater feed hose coming out of the top of the motor. I have it all set up with quick disconnects so I can easily winterise and de-winterise my boat. I have to do this before and after each ski session this time of the year since it gets below freezing at night. Look at the malibucrew.com website to see about installing all the features if you are interested. If I have just the hot feed going through the shower the water is to hot to put your hand in so it's probably still pretty close to the 160 thermostat temp.
