  1. Just skied my 67 Vapor the other day for the first time. Was on a 2010 Strada which I thought could not get any better...Whoa...it took about 2 turns to realize that the Radar boys NOTICABLY improved on an already awesome product. The Vapor is a very exciting to ride, high performance stallion with no learning curve, no bad habits and leaves me with a huge grin on my face. Turns, angle, acceleration and feel are very confidence inspiring. My ball score will definitely improve. Am super pumped to get on it again.
  2. Was out for the 3rd time last night. Water mid 50's, air 70ish.
  3. There is a thin slot for the fin. Have to feel around for it and line it up.
  4. I usually buy size 10 shoes but on the size 10 Stradas my toes touch the end so went with 11 Stradas. If you are usually a 10.5 shoe I think size 11 Strada will be perfect fit as others have mentioned.
  5. Don't know any tricks to help out...If you can find the cash buy '97 or newer.
  6. Have not skied the Vice but have the Strada (exact same shape). Smooth, stable and fast. Doesn't do anything wierd! Very confidence inspiring...You should be happy with it.
  7. I prepaid and my dealer brought in a 2014 high end Carbon Fiber ski from one of the major recognizable brands. The ski has two black carbon fiber flecks embedded into the base one is the size of the end of a pencil eraser and the other about the size of a persons pinky nail. It is very noticeable because it is in a lighter colored bottom. I am told that the ski is NOT a second and cosmetic blemishes are normal for high end, hand built skis. I realize that the performance and the running surface of the ski are unaffected in any way it is just visually annoying and may decrease resale value. They do not want to send it back and replace it with another one saying that the next one they get back may have more or less cosmetic issues. Really!! Is this normal? I have never bought a ski with blemishes unless it was labelled as a second or 'Blem'. My last ski was a 2010 Radar Strada and it was blemish free. Am I being too fussy or is this the new reality when purchasing high end skis??
  8. Purchased just the istabilizer mount. Used it yesterday for the first time held Iphone well (even with an Otter Box protective case on the phone) no issues. Purchase the $0.99 Wakeye App for hassle free GPS start, stop recording...it works awesome! Just needed to use a flat washer to shim under the black foam washer on top of the Ski Doc mount to be able to crank the mount tight enough. http://www.istabilizer.com/collections/istabilizer
  9. @Edbrazil‌ doing some REAL boat tests with @Horton on his lake. That is stuff I would take stock in!
  10. Here is an earlier thread that covered similar topic http://www.ballofspray.com/forum#/discussion/7211/outboard-motor-in-a-direct-drive/p1
  11. Man that 93 S&S that @Chris_logan posted is Saahweet! Love that color/graphic combo. Was going to buy one years ago but it was on a mismatched trailer and I backed out.
  12. In Southern BC, Canada. Always thought I was too far north to have one of these. Finally tried one...every boat I have owned since then I have had one. As we are out a lot mid day would not even consider going without it. The upholstery stays cooler, I'm less tired and more comfortable...it's a no brainer.
  13. Begining at what boat speed and line length is the fin wing advisable to use? I have heard that at the longer line lengths most guys don't use the fin wing and it really isn't necessary to use until you get to shorter lengths.
  14. Assuming, as mentioned, that angle, rope load, direction are the same the ski that attains more speed is more efficient at converting energy from the boats pull into forward momentum(obviously). That skis attributes would be...more directional 'grip' which would convert more energy into forward momentum not lose it to 'slippage' or spray. A flatter on water attitude (less tail depth = less drag) and a slippery bottom should improve accelaration as well.
  15. Crack and block in the same sentence would have me moving on.
  16. All this letter/number stuff makes sense just not sure where to start. Running 34 mph at 15-22 off and wondering what a good starting point is...B2? Going to hit the water March 1st. Water will likely be 35-45 and air 50 if we get lucky. That's a baller index of approx. -17. Gotta love/hate southwest BC Canada.
  17. I'm with @oldjeep...pony up for a boat that is zero off equipped or settle for a lower price boat that doesn't have it and be happy with that. To spend $4400 on a zero off conversion or approximately triple that to repower an older boat with a zero off friendly motor/control is burning money.
  18. @ShaneH...good to know. Have only 7 hours on our 13 TXi so will proabably break that in for an undetermined amount of seasons before moving into something else. Guess I know who to contact when the time is right.
  19. @Chef32 and @ToddL...I think they changed the flex pattern of both the A3 and the S2 this year.
  20. Seattle Boat Show the new PS was listed over 90k. Price on a tandem decently optioned was 83k. Haven't had the pleasure of skiing behind one yet but absolutely loved it. It has most everything well thought out and executed.
  21. First off I have to say I am not an engineer and these comments are more questions....Applaud HO for their continued efforts to apply new technology to their skis. I have not ridden (only seen on at the boat show) a ski yet with the 'speed skin' which is hailed as one of their drag reducing technologies used on some of their ski models. Over the years the impression I have is that a ski bevel is a highly tuned, microscopic changes make a huge difference kind of area?? Now, this smooth, precise bevel (and the rest of the ski) is wrapped in this 'bumpy' coating. If the bevels where left smooth and the concave area between them had the speed skin wouldn't this be the best of both worlds?? Who has skied one and what is your impression?
  22. @Wayne....I think your on the right track. The speed steps first made their appearance on the Co X. Now it doesn't have them anymore they moved them to the S2 and TX.
  23. @skibug...perhaps Mastercraft should be selling this NXT line under the name 'Apprenticecraft' or 'Studentcraft'...LOL.
