  1. Ballers,

We have planned the date for the second annual In His Wakes Head to Head. It will fall on the tails of the Southern Regionals at Twin Oaks Lakes in Paducah Kentucky. The first tournament was a big success and the 2015 will be bigger and better. The 34 mph division was won by Regina Jaquess who edged out foe Chad Scott by getting around 4 ball at 39.5 after skiing in the 6 th. round of the day. The 36 division was won by Dane Mechler who edged out Tyler Scott.

This year we are tentatively planning a head to head for the Juniors as well.

    Schedule:

Friday: Practice 34, 36 After dark anyone may practice at night under lights(last year we pulled skiers til 1am)

Saturday: Head to Head qualifying rounds 34 and 36

    Banquet

    34 finals at night

    Sunday: 36 Head to Head

    Class C

Over $7000 in prize money will be awarded. You are encouraged to come participate and fellowship with us in this tournament no matter at what level you ski. The only requirement is that you have fun.

There was some question on the date of the Southern Regionals for 2015. I will post the firm date when I can confirm it.

Thanks to the Kentucky Lake Ski Nuts and all the hard working Kentucky Skiers for helping Bob Harris and I host this event.

  2. Last year they had no problem denying my reride request. They told me a 32 start and gave me a 35 start. They said the show must go on and refunded my entry fee. Probably the right decision. Horton, it swings both ways, Nautique gets a tremendous amount of advertising and publicity with very little investment. I am thankful for the tour, but the Dawgs feed Nautique as well.
  3. I want to give a shout out to Jason Staab. In the Average Joes tournament this weekend, he was paired with Chris Eller in the round of 16. The judges missed one at night and gave Staab credit for buoys he didn't make it around and gave him the win. At the dock he straightened it out and forfeited allowing Eller to move on to the round of 8. There are a lot of classy people in this sport and Jason is one of them.
  4. Just a day away from practice. We have done a lot of work and plan to enjoy the day. We have a bunch of people who want to take the opportunity to ski under the lights during practice.

  5. We are just a week away from the Average Joes vs. Bikini Pros Head to Head and Class C. We need more skiers, get your entries in. Late fees waved. We have a wide variety of skiers signed up. No reason not to come be part of this event. We need especially 36 mph ballers.

It will be fun to see April Coble, Regina Jaquess and Emma Sheers compete with the best of the amateur men.

If you can't come check out the webcast and plan to come next year.

For more info. check out www.kentuckywaterski.org a link to the webcast will be there as well.

  6. For those wanting to see Average Joes vs Bikini Pros on the web live streaming, see www.kentuckywaterski.org. There will be a link there for it. All information on the tournament will be there as well.

Should be interesting to see how some of the best 35 and older ballers do against Regina Jaquess, April Coble, and Emma Sheers. Chris Eller is going to be facing his wife. Could be a long ride home.......

  7. Please come join us for a slalomfest like no other. We are going to have something for everyone. 34 skiers, 36 skiers, class C. Prize money, good food. Tony Lightfoot is going to Webcast the 34 night finals. All for a great cause.

Thanks to our Premier Sponsor Eagle Sports. Many thanks to our boat sponsors, Centurion Boats and Malibu Boats. Other sponsors are the Paducah Tourism Commission, Four Rivers Harley Davidson, Masterline.

We need skiers, especially you 36mph guys. The head to head format is a lot of fun. Even if you are not a big baller now come give it a shot. There will be lots of great slalom to watch and lots of people who love to help teach others.

Head to Head event skiers are guaranteed 3 rounds. If you also enter the Class C on Sunday you can get 5 rounds.

Great practice, including practice under the lights on Friday. Tournament drivers will be pulling practice.

What old dude can beat Regina? What old dude can actually ski 6 rounds and see at night?

  8. The 200 is excellent as far as wake. It is fantastic for the kids skiing at slower speeds. It is also fantastic at 38 and shorter. At the ultra short line lengths the trough behind the boat is minimal. The trough is much more disruptive than wakes. My Neurosurgeon can vouch for this. The issue for several of the 200's with more of a tail at 28 is the hydrogate. I have fixed two of these. The gate is mounted too high and when deployed does not go down far enough. For those who know or have one, look at the gate and compare it to a good one. It is likely that it doesn't go down as far. A little depth means a lot(just like our fins.) The notch can be modified instead of redrilling holes.
  9. We bolted steel plates together and pulled them into the water. I've been on my lake for about 8 years and it has worked beautifully. I thought I would need to do concrete but it is not a priority now. I would choose your area carefully. Get in the water and try to find an area that is sloped correctly and level left and right. We tried other things like guard rails and concrete air conditioner pads without success. The metal plate does not have to be that thick, it stays in place. It is slick though, try to end it at the water's edge so your tow vehicle rear wheels don't get on it. I marked the boundaries with pvc pipe.

Good luck a new lake is an adventure and a lot of work.....but worth it.

  10. We will start accepting entries today. We are making great progress. Thanks to the judges and scorers that have stepped up to help. Thanks to the sponsors. Please get your entries in early as we will fill up quickly. We want to get more people involved, so if you have ever wanted to participate in a head to head event please come......
