  1. I wasn't sure I'd be able to do tournament this year, but I've got it sanctioned now and hope I can get some skiers
  2. We get 12.5ft wide rolls and cut to 4ft or 6ft depending on the area. Usually 4ft
  3. See https://photos.app.goo.gl/cWCJtckWBuYYZa41A for how we have been doing rock
  4. @Andre Yes it is LSF Development. Gordon and I did 5 sites: Lago Santa Fe, Princeton Lakes, Lakes at Timber Cove, Lakes of Katy, and San Marcos River Ranch. 19 Slalom Courses
  5. Many of you may not know that I was Gordon's partner in 5 ski lake developments. He taught me how to get things done. We had many great adventures in creating lakes and communities around them. I learned many great life lessons from him.
  6. I've towed my Malibu promos with the towing cover for 5 hours with no damage. I think the plastic wrap is a great idea for a 1200 mi tow though.
  7. Susan Thompson Memorial Ski Tournament Recap I wanted to have this tournament in her honor since even though she was not a tournament official or competitor, she supported the sport from behind the scenes. Susan loved being part of the hospitality of tournaments, baking her famous brownies or other deserts. She also supported me in the many years I spent with Gordon Hall developing 5 residential ski sites, that have hosted 4 AWSA Nationals, 2 US Opens, Collegiate Nationals, several AWSA Regionals, Jr US Open, Collegiate tournaments, and many Class C and L local tournaments. I was away from home a lot in those days and she often ran down materials or did other errands for us. We had a full tournament of 35 skiers, and I appreciate everyone coming and supporting us here at Ski Texas. Tina Lindsey set Regional Overall record in first round and Regional Jump Record second round. Congratulations to her. Thanks to Jamey Broaddus and Melissa Huitt for hosting dinner for everyone. Thanks to Rod, Sue, and Lacey Long for making the T-shirts (hand tied dyes!) and graphics for them. They also did lunch for everyone. Based on the skiers entered, and T-shirt sales, and some cash donations, $535 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (donate.lls.org) and $535 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) has been donated. Also Ron and Kathy Ives made $200 donation directly to St. Jude’s in Susan’s Memory. Also thanks to everyone else that helped out judging, driving, and tech. Jim Thompson
  8. I had what turned out to be benign lump off my clavicle about a week ago. Pretty scary after reading matt and klindy. I had appointment in June set up, but I moved that up when the spot turned weird with scabs on it. Don't delay
  9. Many of those ponds are drainage detention for subdivisions or commercial buildings. There is no public access. It does seem odd that a city this large would not have some more sites that are semi public. There are some courses on rivers outside the city, but those come and go depending on who set them up.
  10. I see a lot of variation in ropes. Sometimes they stretch out after hard use in a tournament and have to be shortened and sometimes not. Occasionally I've seen the wrong end piece on a brand new rope and they will be off significantly. Ropes for tournaments for high end slalom should be about an inch short of actual at the start. Measuring a rope right after someone sets a record you will see it probably just past actual.
  11. You can pull a tape for a rough idea. To ensure record tolerances you need a survey. If you site has a recent shot on Google Earth you can check for gross errors with the ruler. I've used it on my lake, which have very accurate courses and I get within 0.1m most of the time.
