  1. bracemaker, Not mine, although do have one in the top 30! I'll take it! More importantly, it was all smiles this past weekend.
  2. Bruce, Thanks. Great thoughts. I'll put them on Mommy's old 65" siren this weekend. They skied in their first tournament last weekend and got the bug for full course, but got real frustrated last night. It does appear that TSC3, with the removal of the strakes for trickers, had a very adverse effect on the low speed wake though. It is actually really big. This weekend they had new PS, txi, and SN, and while I'm not suggesting thy need a new boat, the low speed wake difference between a TSC3 and most other direct drives over the years is amazing. I never really paid much attention but watching from the boat last night it really does make a monster. That said, I agree that kids are pretty adaptable, and I'll report back.
  3. I appreciate it. I was familiar with that conversation, but it seemed as if the discussion turned to what his options were for replacing his prostar with a comparable boat. I'm keeping my 196, just wanted the best cheap option for a second cheap "transition" boat for a couple years. Unfortunately with hydrogate, tinkering with the stern not an option either. But, I'll keep watching that other thread too, thanks.
  4. Ballers, Need your advice and help. I've got 3 kids, all less than 80 pounds. 2 of the 3 run the mini course (turn ball to outside boat guides) at 30 mph and up to 38 off. We've tried, unsuccessfully, to transition them to the full course at longline and down to 20 mph. Best any can get is 3. Wake on my 07 196 is brutal at 24 and below, in my opinion. I'm content with my boat other than the low speed slalom capability for this transition. Over the years I've had 98, 99, 05 responses (CB), 05 response lxi, and a 97 SN (TSC1 bubble back). Based on my past recollection, the 05 lxi and 97 SN had the best low speed wakes. I'm considering a second boat to assist this transition. I do not want to upgrade to a newer boat for a variety of reasons. Based on your own personal experience (not internet lore): 1) what is the best (older) low speed slalom boat? 2) do you have any suggestions for making this transition to the full course when width is so inhibited by light weights and big wakes? Thanks!
  5. there's a 200 trailer on ski it again as well. Pretty good deal for both, but I still think sunsetter lxi would be tough to beat for you speeds and lengths.
  6. 99-04 sunsetter lxi...NOT lx...it's hard for anyone, let alone your crew, to tell the difference between it and a response. Same running surface, just slightly higher weight. You may honestly prefer the wake to your 196.
  7. Big head, Can you define "overheating issue"? What temp readings were you getting over 200 hours of use? Has anyone (as suggested herein) checked the tranny cooler, which is generally where debris and impeller bits collect?
  8. hemlock, I disagree with addkerr. You are much better off going directly to the battery for several reasons including power delivery and noise in the system. You could run the remote wire to an accessory switch or key I suppose, but you likely have that to the HU already and you might as well leave it there.
  9. I've got, I think, numerous venom parts, if not entire boots. Won't know until this weekend. If that's not too long to wait, hit me up in pm.
  10. I'd try a new cap. Bad batches for a while there, and I spent hours tracking a problem on a new 350 this spring that was backfiring out the top and bottom. Didn't do cap right away since it was new. Turned out was bad from the start. For $45, try a new one. If bad, electricity can go to many cylinders its not intended.
  11. I would think, my bad. can u take a picture of your cap? The flat kind had a bad run (many were bad). when last time changed? rotor button? coil should be cheap to rule out too.
  12. when you say fuel pressure seems OK, what are we talking? on a gauge? Should be 57-62 on key up (and under load). From your description, I'm thinking your low pressure pump cannot keep up with the high pressure pump in the FCC. It's possible to have good pressure at the rail but have a low pressure pump failing.

    Potentiometer

a little off topic but I recently replaced engine in a 2007 SN with a new longblock and needed both a new ECM and potentiometer (new design). PCM says flash on new ecm should be ok w the new potentiometer. 3 hours on boat now, runs strong and "normal" but after a run on plane, will sputter and eventually die at idle. When fired back up will idle normally. If an Indmar, clearly would be a bad IAC valve, but on PCM there is no such part (that I can tell). Any thoughts? All fuel filters clean and new. any thoughts appreciated.

  15. Killer, I dunno, other than ability to run a steeper prop if you wanted to, my carb 97 has as much go as I'd ever need. Here's a good looking one OP. A tad more than budget. http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Boat_3Event&postid=50140
  16. Fam-man, are you at 34? same line lengths?
  17. jhughes, thanks! To clarify, the Vapor pro build and not the alloy? Hopefully my post was not coming off as that I think my nomad is holding me back! I guess I'm just ready for a change since something is continually happening (technique, I know) that I'd like a fresh start (and a me-present for losing weight)! Thanks for your thoughts. So, essentially, even at my long line length, get the "best" (highest shortline performing) ski I can swing?
  18. Hello ballers, I need your help picking out a new to me ski. I can't justify a new ski at my level, and don't really have the opportunity to demo without buying, so, need your recommendations! About me: I skied the most (and best) I ever had about 6 years ago. Weighed around 200 and rode a 2005 68" d3 Nomad. Ran 34/22 90% of the time and 34/28 25% of the time. PB of 3 @ 34/32. Got a Z7 XT but blew an insert out and never fixed it. Since then, I got fat and moved off the lake. Since THEN, I've dropped 40 pounds and now to 180...but I'm STILL on a 13 year old too big for me Nomad. This fall I got back on the water and I've been running 34/22 50% of the time, mostly due to timing issues, but my offside turns have been just terrible. Four ball blows half my passes (LFF). So, long story short, I'm blaming my ski and am ready to step it up (relatively speaking). The following skis are on ski it again and have my interest. All are 67". Again, I'm now 180. Please provide your thoughts and suggestions! Thanks! 2018 radar senate alloy $375 2015 HO Vtype $400 2016 HO Cx superlite $550 (seems overpriced) 2017 Radar Vapor pro build 2017 HO VTX $600 2016 Radar Vapor Alloy $200 (can you really go wrong with a $200 ski?) last option: fix my Z7 (68") So what say you guys? I'm hearing very mixed things about whether to stay with a "tournament" width or go wide like senate/Cx. I realize Asher can run 41 on a CX, but he can probably also run 32 on a 2x4!
  19. 205 prolly a better wake but with worse spray and tracking.

  21. ...and yes, its gets seriously, seriously rolly.
  22. I was with a couple guys barefooting on it during the Rolex 24 about 4 years ago. Got some air time on Speed Channel! Centurion became a NASCAR sponsor around that time and would have some boats out during the races but I haven't seen any towed sports on it in a few years.

    Txi or 200

Obviously both nice rides but to clarify, the NSS is only for surfing and does nothing to make a wakeboard wake whereas the wedge is beneficial for both surfing and wakeboarding, and perhaps surfgate will be available on txi in the future. Although not personally footed behind either, the txi's wake definition and speed will undoubtedly have the nod. What kind of prices are y'all hearing on the txi that seem to have earned it its "value" or "cheaper" reputation? I thought price difference was only about 10-15%?
  24. If the priority is a lot of vert, can't beat Sun Valley. 3500 ft of vert and you will NEVER wait for a chair anywhere on the mountain. More uphill capacity per skier than anywhere in the country. Downsides: tough to get to and can be tough to get cheap lodging. However, rooms are usually widely available at the Sun Valley Lodge and Inn, both of which have a charm which is quite unique in this day and age (read: unless your girlfriend prefers a commercialized mass operation hotelier, she'll love it and it is worth it). IF you go, take the sleigh ride to trail creek cabin for dinner, go the Pioneer for Prime Rib, get a burger and pickled egg at Grumpy's for lunch, and a Hot Pedro on the rock from Cornerstone Bar. Good living right there!
