  1. when you say fuel pressure seems OK, what are we talking? on a gauge? Should be 57-62 on key up (and under load). From your description, I'm thinking your low pressure pump cannot keep up with the high pressure pump in the FCC. It's possible to have good pressure at the rail but have a low pressure pump failing.

    Potentiometer

a little off topic but I recently replaced engine in a 2007 SN with a new longblock and needed both a new ECM and potentiometer (new design). PCM says flash on new ecm should be ok w the new potentiometer. 3 hours on boat now, runs strong and "normal" but after a run on plane, will sputter and eventually die at idle. When fired back up will idle normally. If an Indmar, clearly would be a bad IAC valve, but on PCM there is no such part (that I can tell). Any thoughts? All fuel filters clean and new. any thoughts appreciated.

  4. Killer, I dunno, other than ability to run a steeper prop if you wanted to, my carb 97 has as much go as I'd ever need. Here's a good looking one OP. A tad more than budget. http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Boat_3Event&postid=50140
  5. Fam-man, are you at 34? same line lengths?
  6. jhughes, thanks! To clarify, the Vapor pro build and not the alloy? Hopefully my post was not coming off as that I think my nomad is holding me back! I guess I'm just ready for a change since something is continually happening (technique, I know) that I'd like a fresh start (and a me-present for losing weight)! Thanks for your thoughts. So, essentially, even at my long line length, get the "best" (highest shortline performing) ski I can swing?
  7. Hello ballers, I need your help picking out a new to me ski. I can't justify a new ski at my level, and don't really have the opportunity to demo without buying, so, need your recommendations! About me: I skied the most (and best) I ever had about 6 years ago. Weighed around 200 and rode a 2005 68" d3 Nomad. Ran 34/22 90% of the time and 34/28 25% of the time. PB of 3 @ 34/32. Got a Z7 XT but blew an insert out and never fixed it. Since then, I got fat and moved off the lake. Since THEN, I've dropped 40 pounds and now to 180...but I'm STILL on a 13 year old too big for me Nomad. This fall I got back on the water and I've been running 34/22 50% of the time, mostly due to timing issues, but my offside turns have been just terrible. Four ball blows half my passes (LFF). So, long story short, I'm blaming my ski and am ready to step it up (relatively speaking). The following skis are on ski it again and have my interest. All are 67". Again, I'm now 180. Please provide your thoughts and suggestions! Thanks! 2018 radar senate alloy $375 2015 HO Vtype $400 2016 HO Cx superlite $550 (seems overpriced) 2017 Radar Vapor pro build 2017 HO VTX $600 2016 Radar Vapor Alloy $200 (can you really go wrong with a $200 ski?) last option: fix my Z7 (68") So what say you guys? I'm hearing very mixed things about whether to stay with a "tournament" width or go wide like senate/Cx. I realize Asher can run 41 on a CX, but he can probably also run 32 on a 2x4!
  8. 205 prolly a better wake but with worse spray and tracking.

  10. ...and yes, its gets seriously, seriously rolly.
  11. I was with a couple guys barefooting on it during the Rolex 24 about 4 years ago. Got some air time on Speed Channel! Centurion became a NASCAR sponsor around that time and would have some boats out during the races but I haven't seen any towed sports on it in a few years.

    Txi or 200

Obviously both nice rides but to clarify, the NSS is only for surfing and does nothing to make a wakeboard wake whereas the wedge is beneficial for both surfing and wakeboarding, and perhaps surfgate will be available on txi in the future. Although not personally footed behind either, the txi's wake definition and speed will undoubtedly have the nod. What kind of prices are y'all hearing on the txi that seem to have earned it its "value" or "cheaper" reputation? I thought price difference was only about 10-15%?
  13. If the priority is a lot of vert, can't beat Sun Valley. 3500 ft of vert and you will NEVER wait for a chair anywhere on the mountain. More uphill capacity per skier than anywhere in the country. Downsides: tough to get to and can be tough to get cheap lodging. However, rooms are usually widely available at the Sun Valley Lodge and Inn, both of which have a charm which is quite unique in this day and age (read: unless your girlfriend prefers a commercialized mass operation hotelier, she'll love it and it is worth it). IF you go, take the sleigh ride to trail creek cabin for dinner, go the Pioneer for Prime Rib, get a burger and pickled egg at Grumpy's for lunch, and a Hot Pedro on the rock from Cornerstone Bar. Good living right there!
  14. If it HAS to be a Vdrive, I'd suggest a Malibu VTX with the diamond hull. Mine's a 2013 (but its been unchanged for I think 6 years) and I've run 28 behind it and the wake is not bad at all at 34. Spray at 32off and beyond, however, will likely be an issue if you're getting to that line length. To boot, in about 90 seconds I can go from a very skiable wake to a perfectly shaped surf wake with surfgate and wedge with no extra ballast. I have not skied the sport 200 but the VTX is certainly more versatile and the VTX wake is far superior to the 214V. Although not perfcet pass or zero off, the GPS speed control is very capable though you won't get times. It has my recommendation.

    Crossover boat

While many Vdrives are completely "unslalomable" A sunscape VTX or wakesetter VTX on the diamond hull is acceptable. I used to routinely ski a 2004 sunscape LSV which is a foot longer and heavier than the vtx and ran it into 32. Was not ideal obviously but the VTX skis even better. If the mix is right in terms of wakeboarders and skiers, I wouldn't write it completely off.
  17. OB, I hear you, but the beauty of cozi is that it doesn't require you to go online. It's as simple as checking the weather on your phone. Maybe easier.
  18. I'd suggest a multi-device program/app like cozi which will allow people to set, cancel, and evaluate who will be at the lake when. It's simple to use and the "schedule" provides great information in a simple way and is almost easier to use by smartphone rather than needing a computer. Allows someone to check the line at the dock (or lack thereof) when hopping in the car to head to the lake. We don't have the need for it at our lake but I adopted it when on vacation with like 12 of our family and it was simple to track where everyone was, when meeting back up, locations, etc. Nuclear family has now adopted and run all family activities through it given its simplicity. Highly recommended.

    Boat Advice

Former response LX owner here. The only drawback to the open bow in the response lx is the access over the windshield. You could look for an openbow echelon which had a walk through but I don't think that was available any years with the diamond hull, which debuted in 1998. FWIW I currently have a CB 98 response and it skis great. Ham, cut diamond didn't come out until recently, 07 as I recall, SV23 diamond released in 1998. Correct on the trunk tho, that was 1999.
  20. In my experience waxing greatly prolongs the color of gel, not the other way around. I recently used a product called Colonel Brassy which is EXTREMELY abrasive. So much that you can feel the grit rubbing it in your fingers. It worked pretty well, then followed up with a 3m rubbing compound then 3m finesse it polishing compound then cleaner then wax. Results were good. Collinite's marine wax is the best finish wax I've come across though it is hard to find.
  21. Malibu went to the diamond hull in 1998 and which is still the hull used on the new response and response lx, to my knowledge, not the case for MC or SN. The lxi uses the "cut diamond" which is much more similar to the diamond than the changes from SN and MC. So, with the Malibu you can still get a very comparable wake to the modern wakes, which I would think is a very good attribute.
  22. We added "inline silencers" to our club boat. they're about 6 inches long and get added to the exhaust hose before the mufflers. Made a worthwhile difference but I can't remember where we got them...about $200. Power loss minimal with LCR response. Coupled with the engine box insualtion, it's a pretty quiet boat.
