  1. @skidawg so why are the pros cutting the gate so fine????? If it is no advantage why not aim for the middle??? Obviously I do not ski at these super short line lengths, but believe there must be an advantage otherwise they would not be so close to the right hand ball. the only time I could see it being a disadvantage is if the skier leans too long (which is not the fault of the gate) which would have them carrying too much speed, same as anyone learning a new pass..
  2. One with a LARGE sweet spot =) @rich Conditions must play a part, year after year I see skiers at Moomba get caught out on a roller or current catches them on their gate. Scores are typically low at Moomba for a reason. However I too would not change anything setup wise for tough conditions, just have to adapt quicker to what you get.
  3. Hard to go wrong with an Animals, have not used attack but would suggest it is very similar to Radar Vectors which are an awesome boot for your level. Attack will be a lot easier to put on in the water and as long as you do not cinch them up too tight no dramas with coming out.

A lot easier to replace a lace on Attack than an overlay on an Animal down the track too =)

  4. I think that one thing a lot of people are forgetting is that 2 different actions can have a very similar effect, my thought being that trailing or leading arm pressure will achieve the same result i.e. keeping shoulders heading outbound.

I'm also very interested in @sethski thoughts on what type of skier to promote leading/trailing arm to? As a coach I am very Skier specific but have not managed to pick up on this principal for different skiers.

Personally I am favoring trailing arm only slightly (70-30 maybe less) as it seems to give me a better/ smoother edge change. With Leading arm I felt I got lean locked and could not get off leaning edge making for a very ugly edge change.

  5. I REALLY like the idea of keeping the rope only problem is if multiple skiers do it!!!

I also like the idea of something between driver and skier.

Needs to be repeatable everywhere and allow for multiple skiers.

  6. So have been thinking about this for a while and would like some input, I feel there should be some tradition for the first time you cut rope in a tournament. Surely someone has some suggestions for what this could be. e.g. get to throw the boat driver/judge in the water. Keep the rope or something similar. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
  7. We all know that there are MANY ways to explain something as a coach, however we all do not learn the same way! The star system to me seems to give us "Ballers" who do not know the credible posters an easier way to sort through things. The "No Star Crew " like myself, will still get read and it would be a very silly person that did not read EVERYTHING in a thread, it may not work for you, but unless you read and try you will never know!
  8. Have run handicapped team event before. Have run 1st round with the -4 buoys from PB as handicap format. e.g. PB of 4@35off skiers runs 2@35off score is +2. If skier ran 5@32off score would be -1. From the first round take your 2 or 3 best handicapped scores (All depending on numbers) and appoint them as "Team Captains" have them go pick for pick of the remaining skiers. Run second round and add up team score. It is a really fun tourny and will usually be fairly close in the end as well as involving all ability levels.
