  1. My daughter videoed my passes from the end of the turnpike lake. When I watched the videos, on my 22 and 32off passes (34mph) the right hand gate ball went under the water as I went through the gates. I got credit for the gates, but was surprised they went under water. Just assumed that only happened at slower speeds and longer line lengths.

I think gates should not be judged for B1/G1 & B2/G2. I don't see the harm in giving the younger skiers a break, they are not skiing max speed for their gender anyway.

  2. My 10yr old son and 13yr old daughter ski in tournaments with me. I had a family rule that they had to be able to run two passes before entering their first tournament, which they both accomplished their first tournament (novice) and came home with trophies. Two years later they are both still hooked and this past weekend was the first tournament we all shortened the line. Fun stuff!
  3. theheidss, I would recommend the 2012 model as the ski was redesigned in 2012 (stepped bottom). My wife loves her 65 Triumph and skis the course at 24-28mph 15off. I did buy a HO syndicate fin so we could make small adjustments to the fin setting. There is a 2012 65 Triumph on ski-it-again.com listing SIA21520. Good luck, there is nothing more fun than skiing in college!
  4. I'm 6'2'' 180-185 and went from a 67 A1 (ran 35off 34mph 3-4 times in 2011) to a 66.5 S2 this spring and running 35off about 60% of the time. The 66.5 S2 and 67.5 A1 are very close to the same surface area. The thing I like about the S2 is if I get on my back foot on my off side, I can typically make it to the next ball and still have a chance to run the pass.
  5. If anyone out there has any influence on next year's Nationals schedule of events, having OM & OW close to the little kids events was great! It was my 9yr old's first Nationals (B1 slalom) and he had a thrill getting autographs from Nate, Parish, Wilson bros, Rossi etc. He didn't ski as well as he wanted to, but his shirt full of autographs will be his biggest memory of the event and motivation to coming back next year.
