  1. @dbutcher You are good. For RV tires the manufacturers publish charts showing the ideal tire pressure for the actual weight on each axle. That pressure is usually somewhat below the max pressure noted on the tire sidewall.The ideal pressure is to be safely above those charted pressures, but not so much so to give you a hard, jarring ride. Most RVers go with about 5% above the charted pressures to allow for side to side variance on each axle.Since your trailer has a smart tire selection, tires with load ratings that well exceed what you have with your combined SN and trailer weight, 65 psi sounds about right.As you noted, going higher just makes a hard ride, adding little if anything for tire life.Unfortunately most boat trailers do not come with tires that have much, if any, "headroom" on the load rating, and have to be maintained at or very near the max pressure.

  2. I lived on Lake Tennessee from 1994 until 2000. In Lake Juliana Reserve. It does ski great much of the time. But, also big enough to get wind blown at times. Still, I would happily move back. That was a long time ago, but the lake was never busy in the evenings.Your non wind blown days would be fewer on Lake Juliana.

  3. I had a 98 Supra. The wake was very good 22 and shorter. Tracked very well, easy to drive. Very little spray (can only speak for up to 35 off). Loved that boat. Yeah, no wood, at all.

    Oh, I had the open bow version, called the Legacy. Same hull as the Comp. Plenty of room for 6. If running the slalom course and using the pylon, maybe 4 or 5 with a jump seat. We would put the jump seat behind the driver.

     

  4. Also, as @foxriverat noted, be careful if you tension the course with your boat. We built our course with schedule 40 pvc, not the light wall tubing used by portable courses. We do tension with our boat, but never more than idle, and in and out of gear. You only need a couple hundred pounds of tension.

    Fortunately, we are in a lake with minimal lake level variation. Seldom need to add tension.

  5. To prevent the mainline from going sideways when you tension it, use two screw anchors with eyelets on top. 30 or 36 inch length should be plenty.

    Screw one to the river bottom on the upriver end to be a permanent fixed point for your mainline. Then use what ever weights you choose to tie the downriver end of the mainline to. Nothing tricky about the weight except you want something much denser than water, like steel or concrete. 50 pounds or so.

    (Remember, for every gallon of water volume displaced by your weight, your weight loses 8.34 pounds when underwater).

    Once you have the mainline tensioned, install the 2nd screw anchor directly under the mainline anchor rope, about 15-20 feet upriver from your anchor weight. Then, pull the mainline anchor rope down and into the eyelet.

    Now, if the river drops, and you need to pull a lil tension, you won't change the course path at all. It will remain centered between your turn buoys.

    You just need a couple scuba divers and a short piece of pipe to screw the anchors in the river bottom. If the river bottom is deep with soft silt you might need longer screw anchors to get a bite in solid soil. These anchors are not very expensive.

     

    You also might want to attach small sub buoys on the 2 screw anchors and the down river weight in case you ever need to find them again.

    Anyone ever tackled the job of installing new stringers?

    I know it is no small task, but the boat was running so good, and near perfect times. And, the nostalgia.

  7. There are several motels at the Hwy 267 exit of I10. Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn and Quality.

    There is also a B&B several skiers have stayed at and enjoyed called the McFarlin House. Looks very nice, but never stayed there myself.

    Definitely bring some shade for watching the skiers along the lake. Food & drinks, too.

    You're in for a treat. LK 38 is awesome!

  8. Don't rule out a well laid out regiment of back stretches to reestablish flexibility in all directions. For me, if I tried to arch backwards while standing, I could hardly get far enough to see the ceiling. Now, I can arch back and see some of the wall behind me. All is not perfect, I'm mid M7. But, my ibuprofen consumption is now near zero.
