  1. You could ask on the teamtalk forum, maybe someone has done the conversion before. I have a '93 also, I'd be interested in the results (better steering feel and control I would guess?)
  2. I was hoping to see at least 3 different direct-drives but that was not to be. 2012 Malibu TXi (replaces the LXi)
  3. Go to Callaway Gardens in Georgia over Memorial day weekend to see the best skiers compete. If you like show skiing, go to the show ski nationals usually held in Wisconsin. You're always welcome to ski with us here in NJ if you hit NY city in your travels (I am 1 hour from NYC) Enterprise rent a car is my favorite....make sure you get unlimited miles. I would pick a mini-van over an SUV, it will use a lot less gas (petrol) :)
  4. I'll take a few pics and post them when I get back. A carbon pro......that would be cool but I doubt it will be there. @ 6balls, not interested in anything in the near future but I would love to see some of you guys buy some 200's from my buddy Lou, owner of Offshore marine here in NJ. A great guy that will go out of his way to help anyone!
  5. The NY boat show is going on right now, I'm going tomorrow (sunday). Anyone else on here going? Hoping to see a 197, LXi and 200 but this area is big into wakeboard boats and larger saltwater series boats.
  6. @ Sully, nice looking boat! I saw your pics of it on TT also.
  7. For the past 5-6 years its been like this: Try to grab 2 buds and hit the river on friday for some wakeboarding. Get up saturday, leave the house at 6:30 to once again wakeboard the glass just after 7am before the wallys come out. This routine eats up more than 1/2 a day because we have to trailer the boat. But it's cool, I have nice wakeboard friends most of which are younger than me. (OK all of them are!) I have not chased buoys for several years, mostly because the closest course is an hour away. Met Patrick on teamtalk and on here and he opened my eyes to a club with a course so hoping to get back into slalom more this season. Plus I have fridays off so we should get some nice water then, making it worth the drive to the river. Someday I'll have a lakefront house so I can go footing or take quick slalom sets whenever I like.
  8. The "versus" network is now NBC sports......24/7 so this may help grow some watersports, most likely wakeboarding more than skiing though. The King of Wake series was on Versus this past season. Growing any watersport can be a double-edged sword. On one hand growing the sport is great for boat & equipment sales, creative ideas for charity events, etc. But on the other hand (as some have stated) it adds more boaters to our public waterways. Some would rather keep their secret spot just that, a secret. (A not-so-local wakeboarder here where I ride and ski held a wake festival here for 5 years which just adds exposure to our nice local spot, not exactly what we where wanting)
  9. Still, I'd like to see a smaller lighter boat and the old 94 MC was one of the best hulls ever. ^ I've heard this many times before, and I'm glad to hear that you feel this way seeing as I just got a '93 Prostar! :)
  10. @ AB, I knew Bill Filling back in my Lake Aldred days. He was a rep for Supreme at that time. Is he still around? @ lpskier, I'm about 2 hours south of Monroe NY. There is also a ski club 2 hours south of me in south Jersey called Dividing Creek ski club. Raceway park skiers are closest to me if I ever want to get into some serious slalom again. For now I'll be free skiing and footin' close to home.
  11. BOS is like Wakeworld for educated adults! :)
  12. Dave Wert from central New Jersey (don't say "you're from jersey? what exit?) I'm not even close to the NJ turnpike or Garden state parkway. I am living proof that many of us Jerseyans are NOT like anyone on "Jersey Shore"! I'm married with 2 kids (8 & 18). My wife skis and my kids both wakeboard. Hoping to get my daughter, (8 y.o.) on a slalom ski in the near future....my 18 y.o. son will most likely stick to wakeboarding. I came from a family of recreational skiers, learned at age 8 behind our 15' Starcraft/65 HP outboard and got hooked! I think I started to slalom at age 10. Bought my first boat at 18 (16ft outboard) and my first true ski boat was a 19 foot 1988 Ski Eliminator. Stepped up to a 1994 Prostar 190, lost my focus on a couple I/O's after that. Now have an '05 X-star and a '93 Prostar 190 Limited (just got 4 weeks ago).....spring cannot come fast enough! Back around '85 I went to Dave Spencer's ski camp in NY hoping to improve my slalom skiing. Never really got any better after that, plus learned to barefoot so slalom took a back seat. Joined the Lake Aldred ski club for a while in the late 80's-early 90's, then discovered Port Indian ski club shortly after and spent a few summers footin' and skiing there. 2005-present I've been spending most of my time wakeboarding and foiling on the Delaware river in Florence NJ and met some great people.......none of which can even get up on a slalom ski. Met a skier not too far from me and took a few slalom sets behind her Prostar 197......I'm starting to like slalom again! Heading back to Port Indian sunday Jan 1st for "ski freeze" so I can see some old friends take to the frigid water....not me this time, I'll just be a spectator! Great forum! I found you through MC teamtalk......this site is flying under the radar. I will be glad to spread the good word at the NY boat show coming up in one week. Anyone else going to the NY boat show?
  13. @bishop8950, I've always wanted to ski at raceway park. Just seeing that site from the pits behind the drag strip some 30 years ago always got me stoked.....looks so perfect! I met Bill Cooper back in the 80's when I was a punk kid with my 18' Challenger jet boat with BB Chevy. He actually had a course in the Delaware river so I tried it a few times with my 19' Ski Eliminator. I think Bill is still active with raceway park right? @horton, GREAT SITE! Glad I found it and hope to meet more of you local guys. Thanks for the bump of the old thread, great reading about your backgrounds. @Patrick..yeah I'll hit the Schulykill river with you next season! Matter of fact, I'm going Jan 1st to Port Indian to watch the polar bear skiers take to the water for charity. You going?
  14. Since I'm new to this site, just wanted to see if anyone is near my location? (NJ, eastern PA, Delaware, MD) I may need to enlist more skiers for the coming season since all my friends wakeboard. Feel free to post where you're from anyway.....it's always interesting!
  15. New to the forum, just wanted to say hello! Oh yeah, and how stoked I am do start doing some more skiing (and footin') next year here in NJ behind my new-to-me '93 PS190 Limited. (just picked it up last weekend) Needs a little detailing and minor TLC but looking forward to using it come spring.
