  1. I think this is the link he was trying to share:
  2. DON'T SHOW UP LATE...and especially don't show up late while carrying Starbucks (I don't call that guy to ski anymore) "sorry I am 30 minutes late (but I had time to stop for coffee while you wait)"
  3. The US Coast Guard only uses life vests that are Jeff Rodgers approved.
  4. Before a pass: Jeff Rodgers asks the boat driver "what Jeff Rodgers setting do you want?"
  5. Jeff Rodger's preferred fin setting is "yes".
  6. When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Jeff Rodgers.
  7. I have yet to forget my drain plug, but my boat's previous owner cable tied a spare plug to the upper cooling hose for that type of mistake. I thought it was a great idea as trying to find the plug could be a total panic- luckily you knew right where to find it.
  8. @cougfan - that looks awesome! Also, how easily does your tower mount/unmount from the boat? Is it a custom attachment method? I am curious because I have been wanting to leave the tower home about 50% of the time when using my boat.
  9. This one was a near-miss....launching my 99 Sport Nautique by myself- back down the ramp, get out to unclip the turnbuckle, realize that I need to back in a foot or two deeper, get in truck, release parking brake, engage reverse, back up a couple of feet, engage parking brake, unclip turnbuckle, start reversing the boat off of trailer and right as I am clear of the trailer I notice the reverse lights on my truck are still on. The parking brake seems to be holding just fine...so I do my best to calmly circle around to the dock (a strong crosswind made circling back necessary) and scurry over there to take the truck out of reverse. Feeling lucky that my truck and trailer did not follow the boat into the lake.
  10. I have replaced a starter on an 86 Nautique (with reverse rotation engine)...but used a standard rotation starter.....could not figure out what was wrong until I was brainstorming/staring at the harmonic balancer and it occurred to me that the timing marks were on the opposite side of TDC than they were on the 351 in my Mustang. The exhaust flappers felt like they were welded shut.
  11. on my 99 Sport Nautique (filling from pump) I use a large funnel (cut so the small end is only slightly smaller than the filler opening) and I aim the nozzle so that it "swirls" the gas into the funnel. It seems to flow better this way....but I do also have to use a certain pump at the station as it seems that some pumps either run full blast or off- the pump that I like seems to run at 50% when I am light on the lever. Sometimes I even pull the right trailer tire up onto a block of wood to help the fuel flow downhill into the tank.
  12. That is a rear boot- but description says front.....
  13. Course skiing to me is almost as if you are in a race car where your speed/lap time is predetermined... and as the driver you have to be able to make all of the corners at that speed. You have no throttle control and you keep going faster and faster each lap until you miss a turn.
  14. Like @Rob says- the GoPro is just not the right tool for the job...unless you get a modified one: https://www.back-bone.ca/product/h7pro/ it is expensive and does not even come with a lens. But it would be the perfect camera for pylon mount.
  15. GoPro (Hero5 and above) seems to have a faster data logging rate- and combined with Dashware you can customize gauges: (this is from a Hero6 - skiing 31mph as you can see in the speed reading before gates)
  16. Anyone know happened with Ryan Dodd? I see it was asked here a few times, but no answer.
  17. @vtmecheng I am pretty sure the Sport is not really a TSC hull (despite the sticker - my 99 Sport has the TSC decal). If I remember correctly: there was a discussion on Correct Craft Fan a while back about this where @Jody_Seal confirmed this. edit: I found the thread on CCF: http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=20031&title=98-sport
  18. From the Zero Off website FAQ: In May of 2008, Zero Off & Perfect Pass signed an agreement that states: 1) Perfect Pass will not offer drive-by-wire systems to boat OEMs beginning 2009 boat model year. 2) Perfect Pass will not offer retrofit systems for 2009 model year for drive by wire applications. 3) Perfect Pass is licensed to sell Star Gazer to its existing customer base until the beginning of 2009 boat model year. 4) Zero Off will not retrofit mechanically/servo driven applications. So it sounds more like a "treaty" than a patent issue, the big question is obviously if there is any end-date to the agreement.
  19. I see that you mentioned "jump seat behind the driver" the jump seat also fits perfectly in the walkthru- just in case you did not notice or already know. I have a 99 sport, it has a decent slalom wake.
  20. Also, if you try skiing a little "narrower" for a few sets (don't travel as far away from the wake before turn) you can probably get a better feel for pre-turn and casting the ski out as mentioned above. This will also get you to stop pulling after the 2nd wake.
  21. I also can see both sides, but it is worth considering that this type of thing can "snowball" if many people are not spending the entire day on site: Things running more quickly than expected makes skiers more likely to be a no-show/scratch....and every scratch makes the schedule run even faster (increasing the likelihood of more scratches).
  22. I have never experienced it, but maybe grounding, or maybe the horn uses enough power that the voltage to PerfectPass drops just enough for the system to cut off- and it makes sense that this would cause acceleration because of how perfect pass works: by reducing throttle setting from wherever the throttle lever is pushed to by the driver.
  23. Same here, 99 Sport Nautique...some pumps seem to be only 100% flow or off (with nothing between) and fueling is nearly impossible...A tall funnel seems to help in my case...I did cut off the last couple of inches of the funnel so it barely fits in the fuel filler- then I aim the nozzle so the fuel "swirls" in and that at seems to help as well.
