  1. Plenty kids progress well in Wiley, D3 rubber bindings.

In my observation It is more difficult for children to get Relex to lock in and often requires parents help. Rubber doesn’t have the same issues.

Watching ex pros children they used reflex on trick skis and the same bindings on the slalom ski. So only one boot for two skis.

  2. Too tight for my big foot. Caused cramping across the top of the foot. Easy to get into, came out of easily, actually quite comfortable and if it wasn't for the tightness across the top of the foot I would still have use it. My son now uses it
  3. The advice we got was, slow speed and forget about the gates start by rounding one ball then skiing out to the other balls. When you get one ball all the time add in six ball, then two ball filling in as you go.

The biggest challenge is the huge wakes at low speeds but they soon get the hang of it

  4. My son had a Total Radar Awesomeness from early on I think it around 6 years old been great ski.

My daughter we purchased a Radar Lyric because she liked the graphics and that made her want to ride the ski.

Plenty of options from other brands but the junior ski are quite good.

  5. Often tournaments are long days for two or three events and maybe 15 minutes skiing.

I think something like on site land based coaching. Doesn’t have to be much could be as simple as where to look during a pass or how to optimise body positions for tricks

Rules explained for example 15 minutes on full 1/2 or 1/4

    Gear maintenance and tips

    Driving tips and explanations

I know most people get these ideas from osmosis but 3 x 15 minutes combination of any of the above might send home people with the “value add” and only take up 45 minutes of the day.

  6. Plenty of brands do very small sizes. Our kids had radars lace up bindings and someone gave us a xs rubber binding. Trick skis had small D3 bindings. Plenty of options.

The advice was to get a 63 ski as when you ski slow speeds it will stay on top of the water. Then as the kids get older and speed increase the ski will still be suitable.

  7. “Bending” (using the get out of jail free card) the rules always impacts on someone as my son knows.

Waterskiing events and organisations are often run by volunteers. I think whenever something like this happens in the end you have to acknowledge it is volunteers doing the best they can on the day.

You may or may not agree with what has occurred but you should assist to ensure that the rules and processes are the best they can be in the future.

  8. I don’t know about the Omni but I would of thought at that age the Lyric rather than TRA might be a better choice. Only because of different sizes

TRA has been a great starter ski for my son and my daughter got a Lyric because she likes the colours better

  9. There are race tracks, cricket pitches, ski sites, football fields, swimming pools that just perform better or worse than others all built in the local area to a know standard. I can’t tell you why on Olympic swimming pool is faster than another.

This thread reads like some one didn’t go to an event and is now butt hurt because they fell down some list they value. They then whisper to someone who wasn’t there that something is off because of the performance.

I find it sad that in small sport that we have gone from celebrating a performance to being more concerned about a site and it’s impact on a ranking list.

  10. Hours are funny things.

When I was buying a boat they were important (500 hrs)

Now I own the boat the hours don’t matter as long as it runs sweet (1100 hrs).

Guess they will become important again when I come to sell it but in reality I will be selling a boat over 20 years old by then.

What’s important is the family and friend time in it and behind it.

Well maintained they can run into the thousands of hours.
