  1. Trent was my first coach along with Marcus Brown (how lucky can a guy get) down at Ski Paradise. Trent took a special interest in getting me to run the course for the first time. Wonderful experience working with him!!!!
  2. I'm thinking spending $2,500 on a trip to Ski Paradise, in the middle of a Upstate NY winter and skiing on my vintage F1 might be better for my "knowledge and experience" than building my own ski. Unless of course.......we are building them in Acapulco, Southern Florida/California :D
  3. At our cottage on the St. Clair River in Michigan, there was a young high school lad that started a business taking drone video's for parties & weddings (he did one of our July 4th Champagne breakfast). He also started taking video's of the lake freighters for some of his customers. In seems that his drone flying around and above the freighters spooked a few the captains and they called the Coast Guard. They tracked him down and shut down his business. Probably scared the crap out of the 14 year old and his family when they knocked on that door!!!!
  4. I spoke to Marcus Brown down at Ski Paradise, about 3 years after the video came out . He told me that many of the concepts in the video were still sound, but as Horton mentioned, Marcus had developed some different and better training methods after that video was made.
  5. I drank the Kool Aid........................Too Funny!
  6. When I was first learning the course down at Ski Paradise, 15 ft off - 30mph, Trent Finlayson took the wing off of my Connelly F-1. Told me that it was doing me more harm than good. I really didn't notice the difference but he thought I was skiing better without it. FYI
  7. @kdeupser Interesting discussion and I agree with most of your motor & horsepower comments.....however in my humble opinion "prop slip" is the major difference in this discussion. You don't change the pitch & diameter of the prop or the horsepower for each skier thus the different loads will effect the slippage of the prop and the resulting speed of the boat. My 2 cents!
  8. shagens, PM me. Have one I will give you. Used once. Jon B.
  9. Marcus was one of our guest coaches at Ski Paradise a few years ago. I had just watched West Coast Slalom video and was discussing it with him. He did tell me that there were a couple of theory’s & practices in the video that he didn't follow or recommend because he felt a skier could end up hurting hurt them selves if they used them. I wish I could tell you what they were but I was not anywhere near the level to try them or relate to them. It also could have been that they were for more advanced skiers & I was just a course beginner and he didn't want me to kill myself trying things!!!! I believe based on Marcus's commnets @ShaneH is correct about that video being one that could be easily misunderstood.
  10. I can give expert advice on what NOT to do!!! (even though this is only my second post). How about "thumbs down" star type indicators??
  11. Met her down at Ski Paradise in 2008 when she and Marcus first started dating. Very nice lady!! Helped everyone one of us 'out of shape' old farts stretch out our sore muscles.
