It looks like I may be heading over from the UK to Texas later in the year for the F1 Grand Prix. It would be nice to get some ski sets in while I'm there, so was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? Cheers

@shaneh A little birdy told me that Nate is on a Quest, but that D3 had to make about 200 of them before he found one that worked for him at 41off

Hi guys, a friend of mine is traveling over from the UK to Miami mid to late October, for the main purpose of skiing, so I thought I might as well tag along. I'm 27 years old and have been skiing for just under 3 years and have reached the stage now where I could really benefit from some decent coaching to help me progress to the next stage. I'm currently regularly running 22off/36mph and getting about halfway down 28. I've hit the wall a bit at 28 where my technique needs some improving. However I have been told that I have the potential to be a decent skier. What I'm really after is somewhere/someone who can spend a bit of time with me at the lake, getting to know me and my style of skiing over the period of a couple of weeks. And can spend some time giving me tuition on the dock too. I'm leaning more towards someone who has a bit of a pedigree in coaching, rather than a current pro, if you get what I mean. Anyway, since I don't know the area well at all, I thought I would post up on here for some advice. Below are a couple of videos of me skiing 15off/34mph and 22off/36mph respectively, just so you can understand where I'm at with my skiing. There were actually a few people using arm guards. I have about 2000 photos from the weekend, so this is only a tiny fraction. I think there were 50 or so competitors.

I'm a UK size 14 and the Reflex hardshell size 12 boot just fits me. My previous bindings were Connelly Enzos in an XL which were also fine.

We have also now replaced the ZO head unit, which as far as I can tell has completely solved the problem.

@9400 Ah ok. Do you have any pictures that you could post, of where you located them? Also the stock plastic strap that is on the white upper cuff is not T nutted with a screw like the other two straps. It is attached with a stud, so I am also not sure how to tackle removing that.

I have just bought the replacement aluminum buckles to replace the plastic ones on my Reflex boot, as they were wearing out. However it is unclear how they need to be installed and no instructions are provided. Does anyone know if the boot has to be re drilled to accommodate the new buckles? It seems that the catch mechanism side can be retro fitted into the existing holes, but the ratchet side cannot, otherwise it will not offer any tension.

@Zman I switched to a Reflex setup last summer and would now not want to ski on anything else. I had an OTF last Wednesday at the second wake and am convinced that the release of the boot saved my ankle. Aside from the safety element, I think they are just great to ski on. Superb comfort and you feel completely connected to the ski.

Have you considered the Reflex R style rear boot? It has the upper cuff missing and the buckles are moved forward. This gives the feeling of a rear boot, but with the ankle flexibility of an RTP....

The problem exists at all speeds. We have changed one of the GPS units which turned out to be throwing a fault back to the head unit and this has improved things, but it is still not working exactly how it should. We are still having the issue of backing off before the gate and gassing through the gate.

This is with and without a skiier.

My ski club took delivery of our new Nautique 200 today. No problem with the boat, but we are having some issues with Zero Off. Having mapped ZO to our slalom course we are finding that it is gassing the boat just before the 55's where you would normally start your pull out, then taking too long to back off between the 55's and the entrance gates and then sometimes gassing again through the entrance gate. It seems to be making good times in the course though, so we are not sure what the issue could be?

Yes he does. It's just a nice airborne edge change....All fun and games until you catch a tip haha.

I'm sure this video has been posted before, so I don't want to dwell on it too much. But from what I'm seeing, it's all about the width. As we all know, skiing narrow on an 18m line robs you of angle at the end of the turn. In this video, you can see Seth skiing way wider than is necessary which is causing him to carry a completely different trajectory through the course. he is able to turn so late past the buoy and still rely on that extra angle to get across to the otherside with plenty of time to spare. this also helps him carry the speed nicely, without stalling at the end of the turn. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this works because it means that even on an 18m line, if you ski super wide, you are able to get higher on the boat and almost replicate the same sort of trajectory that you could employ on a 14-16 metre pass. Compare this with me running the same pass and you can see that being as narrow as I am, I will never achieve that same angle. It also means I don't get a consistent, smooth finish to the end of the turn, so I can't get my hips up and I lose angle aswell as ending up on the front arm too much, particularly coming off my 1-3-5 side. I think I need to practice skiing wider and actually riding the ski rather than just rounding buoys. Apologies for the video quality.
