  1. @Luzz, who won? I missed the live stream and if @KRoundy didn’t win, I have a 50% chance.
  2. He helped me find a ski for my wife that kept her on the water after our first kid. His help was just a small part of his day but had lasting impacts.
  3. @hacker, I am pretty sure that I owned that same t-shirt. It was one of my favorites.
  4. @ESPNSkier, I find that I can get rid of the fog if I dip my face in the water before the line tightens and I get out of the water. The air flow while skiing keeps the fog down until I drop at the other end. Yes, the fog does get annoying but it can be overcome.
  5. Bombers had safety rated options as well the last time I bought from them.
  6. @Horton, there is more to quality of life than weather. At least that is what I tell myself at this time of the year.
  7. He’s probably just waiting for the wakes from a Nautique G25 to pass before he skis a set.
  8. Has to somewhere in Australia. Venomous everything still beats a rabid trash panda.
  9. @rockdog, sorry about your injury. I was the same age when I blew out an ankle. It is almost depressing and appalling to think about all the people that suggested “maybe it’s time to quit or take up golf,” but none of them were skiers. Every time I heard that comment it made me want to get back on the water even more. Just because we turn 40 or get hurt does not mean we need to roll over and play dead.
  10. As for the lifestyle, regardless of where or how it’s the athletic lake life, and it’s great. I really don’t understand what all my coworkers that don’t ski do with their summer weekends.
  11. I think that as slalom skiers we generally have a twisted view as described by some, but aspirational by us. For example, I remember speaking with a fellow skier at the start dock and he had convinced a surfer or windsurfer friend to come to a tournament. His friend described all the skiers as an angry bunch, no one was coming out of the water happy, everyone wanted one more buoy, one more pass, just more. The reality is that most of us have learned to enjoy the ride because we know that the course always wins. We enjoy our sets, our seasons, and skiing with our friends. But we want more, and consequently, we are critical, demanding, and results oriented. Every once in a while, we pour a drink, reflect, and enjoy it.
  12. @adamhcaldwell, they are not. The older one is about to outweigh his current ski, so he is saving his lifeguard money for a C75.
  13. @adamhcaldwell, that is super informative, thank you! That really helps as a dad with one kid in RTP and another in double boots.
  14. @adamhcaldwell, interesting to see you mention the added length with double boots. The settings Cord helped me land on are not too far from these for my med, but with greater length and shorter DFT, running double reflex with a loose upper cuff per your suggestion. Your description matches my feeling with those settings running 22-35. Unfortunately, I am not skiing now, otherwise would be happy to help.
  15. That was cool. Some of the falls remind me of college tournaments.
  16. This song just came up in my Pandora feed, which meant that I had to stop working and go watch the video. Good ski video song and it gives the video a bump.

    Driving

I say this not to be a smart-alec, but to keep your driver happy. If you have the opportunity to find and test drive an inboard, you, and she, will find an inboard much easier to drive for skiing than an outboard. Based on your post, I assume that you are not in the states. Nevertheless, there are many boats out there at almost every price point. If a boat is an option, you may want to explore it. Happy wife = happy life.
  18. @matthewbrown, I would have taken the Skid Row over the Vanilla Ice my freshman-year roommate listened to. We did not stay in contact. Coincidentally, my friends in the dorm were musicians and one was a huge Rush fan.
  19. Will Farrell’s Water Ski Hall of Fame induction video...
  20. Horton was much better looking upside down as a girl holding a trick ski.
  21. Looks like the textured matte version has just become the limited edition, early-adopter collector’s version.
  22. I tried to find the thread with Brooks skiing with the Shorts beer guys in winter in Michigan, but I didn’t so I’ll put this here. After @MISkier’s video, this Pure Michigan video was next. Skiing, beer, and summer days on a warm Michigan lake are perfect for sharing on a cold winter day. If you have never done a Michigan lake trip, you should.
  23. I ordered recently too. Just call her at 575-527-2917. She wouldn’t leave @FWinter high and dry. It is probably just Russian hackers holding the site for ransom... or what @ski6jones said.
  24. @jhughes, you can gauge what is important to a person by where they spend their money and their time.
