  1. Thank you guys for the info. @Texas6 Understood it's what fits your personal style. Being up in the Northeast with no Ski Shops it's hard to get your hands on many new skis, although I have tried. @GOODESkier I am currently on a Radar Vapor. The reason I ask the question is over the last 3 years I have tried many different skis that I have bought or traded on SIA. I went from a Connelly V to an HO A2 to a Maple 6.1 to a Goode Nano 1 to to a Goode 9900 sl Wide ride to a Radar Vapor. I also demoed a D3 Quest 45 and a Helix 2. Each of these skis had their pros and cons. Of all of them the ski I liked the best is the Quest 45. The Flextail makes me nervous to spend that much money when they have had 3 versions of the ski in two years, I may however demo the Rev6 when the ice goes away. That was the main reason for my original question, trying to justify the cost of a new top end ski. As @Horton mentioned the pros can ski 38 off on a 2x4. I try not to get caught up on the hype the companies use to promote a new ski.
  2. I am curious as to what level of skier you guys who are skiing on a Flextail think it's a benefit? Will the ski help increase the buoy count of someone skiing at 34 mph 22-32 off? Or do you see most gains at a shorter rope length 36 mph? The technology is extremely interesting just not sure how practical for the average skier. Thanks for your input.
  3. @Chef23 - I have tried the type R in the past and was looking for something with a little more flexibility and give for my rear foot.

  5. I need some help deciding which of these rear bindings may be better, possible Christmas gift. I am using a Reflex SuperShell in the front that I really like, I just want something more comfortable in the back and not as restricting in the back as a full rear binding. I tried an RTP and didn't really like it, it felt way to loose. I thought these two seem like a good compromise between an RTP and full rear binding. I know there are a couple of threads for each of these but no real user input and was hoping someone may have skied both of them and have some advice. Thanks
  6. @adamhcaldwell .. is that measurement from the back of the front boot to the back of the rear boot?
  7. Jealous!!! Still have 12" of ice up here in the NE.
  8. @Horton I'm figuring that out. How many people do you think are miss measuring their Length and DFT? That's kind of why I asked the question. Each ski has it's own measurements with different ways to measure. Making small changes is easy to track but finding the manufacture specific baseline is the challenge. Especially because such small changes can make a big difference.
  9. So I just bought a new to me Goode Nano One. I am checking the fin measurements and I can't get the length to be short enough when I measure from the tips, the fin runs out of adjustment. I looked on Goode's website and they show measuring fin length from the jaws. I can see how that would make a big difference. Is Goode the only ski manufacture that measures fin length this way? How do you position your calipers when to measure fin length? What brand ski are you on?
  10. I'm in South Central MA, Charlton. Can hook you up Sat or Sun morning.
  11. The Nautique Team 200 has an awesome LCD screen display that also runs the Zero Off.
  12. Zero Off will still record your course time in rec mode you just have to scroll screens between sets. If you start in tournament mode, set pull type, highlight the diamond as stated earlier. There are three screens you scroll through, tournament, time and recreational where you can change the speed by tenths of a mph. After you run a pass through the mapped course in rec mode scroll to the time screen and it will show you the time of the last two passes. I have been running 33.6 mph to take the edge off of the Zero Off 34.2 tournament pull. The time I get at 33.6 mph is 17.25 seconds which is just on the edge of tolerance.
  13. I was able to demo the Quest 45 and I liked it a lot. Just not $1,500 a lot. So there are some great deals on some Quests and I was wondering if I would even notice the difference. I ski at 34 mph 22 - 32 off. I was hoping some of you ski gurus could help me in the decision. -Thanks
  14. I have a 2011 200 with the 409. My orange service soon light came on also. I read in the owner's manual that it has to do with the catanium exhaust system. I was able to disconnect the battery and it cleared the light. The light came back on once but went out on it's own. If I'm not mistaken PCM has a three year warranty on the engines. Good luck.
  15. I feel your pain. Last September I fractured a bone in my foot, Talus, and sprained my ankle badly. Three months in a cast and still going to PT. I was also in a double Strada setup. I am able to ski this year but I do not have the strength in my foot to ski as well as I was. I switched to the Reflex front and rear. I like the concept of being able to tighten the boot to give my ankle the support needed and knowing that it will release when necessary. It feels like there is plenty of support for my ankle as the binding will release before any damage is done to me ankle. I think I will have to wait until next season, when hopefully I will be 100%, to really know if I like the setup. Heal well
  16. D3 Makes a great set. Not to expensive either. http://www.d3skis.com/product-p/wing-angle-gauge-set.htm
  17. Not to mention that diesel in the northeast averages 30-40 cents more per gallon than gas. That seems to negate the better fuel economy. @ShaneH I understand that you can set up a turbo to provide power at the lower rpm range but don't you sacrifice power at the top to do so? Isn't that why many of the small engine turbo guys give it a shot of NOS off the line to get the power up and have the turbo kick in big power on the top? I know that turbos work as the most efficient power adder to an engine but do you think that a 6 cylinder with a turbo has the chance to pull as good as the 6.0 L 8 cylinder?
  18. As many people mentioned it's not just HP but torque as well. Plus you have to consider where in the RPM curve these values are maximized. Most new vehicles with smaller engines making greater power do so at a higher rpm, > 5,000. This is not conducive to skiing where you need almost maximum torque at lower rpm's to get the skier out of the water and you also need solid HP and torque around 3,500 rpm for slalom skiing and jumping. That's why the 6.0 liter small block is ideal for this application. This motor paired with Zero Off is the perfect combination to give a great pull. Unfortunately there is not a more efficient way to produce that kind of power. As many people said turbo engines will be hard to predict and control with the lag, gas or diesel. They already offer a supercharged engine that is big $$, lots of power but not necessarily more efficient. I wish Nautique would finish designing their Electric 200.
  19. I'm having a hard time fighting the urge to ski. How far south from MA would I have to go to be able to bum a ski this weekend? And is anyone offering? Thinking about a road trip with a couple of ski buddies. I can reciprocate this summer if anyone gets stuck near Central MA.
  20. The reason I was asking is my son, who is 16, got to ski with Andy Mapple on Tuesday and saw Andy run a 38 off pass. I want him to realize how special that is.
  21. @Horton, I know I can find the tournament results online but I was trying theoretically figure out how many people have the ability to run the pass, thinking some people who can make it don't ski in tournaments. 35' off seems like a pass that many skiers to get to and make but 38' off seems like a bigger milestone.
  22. Just curious what the consensus might be as to how many people in the world can complete their 38 off pass. Is it 100, 1,000, 10,000? How small is the 38 off club? I know I can't yet but I really want to join.
  23. Beautiful boat. Hope you're in front of the rooster tail. I had a 99 Air Nautique, wake was flat but rooster tail was serious.
  24. I am moving from double Stradas to Reflex front w/RTP. Can't wait till next season to try it out. I have the winter off so will be starting fresh with new setup and ski. Hopefully this will make the transition easier. I grew up on a RTP in the late 80's after some time off went to double bindings two seasons ago and felt limited with body movement on the ski. I was shortening the line and felt like I needed the rear binding for safety. After seeing how well the pros are skiing with the RTP I am going to give it a try, plus it's cheaper that the type R rear. I figure if I don't like the RTP I'll order a type R rear and try that.
  25. @Horton yes I was talking about the Goode skis because that's where I see it the most. I think Reflex does that also but there ski shape seems to be different with each foot forward.
