  1. @Horton how are the sensors powered? I didn't think it was a stupid question. Let me try it this way. How are the skis designed so that it matters which foot is forward? Happy birthday BTW
  2. I need to ship a slalom ski. What is the best way, including insurance to cover the cost of the ski, to ship it?
  3. Great interval, cycle workout that gets your heart pumping. A bit tough on the knees though.
  4. After reading many threads these three things seem to be the most mentioned and easiest to generalize what is needed to make an efficient slalom turn. If you where going to make a decal with three things to focus on that would go on the top of your ski so you see it between each pass what three things would you put? I realize that there many different ways to say these same things but these seem like the simplest way for me to keep it simple and build from there.
  5. I thought it beeped as you went through every gate intentionally?
  6. Anybody else have a limited ski season and having a hard time adjusting to not being able to hit the water? I skied the most I have in the past 15 years this season and can not wait for next year. I put together a video, because I can't ski, with Go Pro software of me and my ski buddies. Let me know who else needs a trip south for a few sets.
  7. I like it. The more concise input you can get from the pros the more we can all learn.
  8. Big News? They're changing to Ford engines. They should be smarter than that. The 6.2 Liter engines is based on the 5.4 Liter where all truck owners couldn't do a tune up because the spark plugs would break off in the head. If you are considering buying make sure the warranty is good.
  9. WOW, that's a lot to take in. There is some great info there, you just have to decipher what will work for you. The great thing about this sport is that we all start with the basic fundamentals and the harder we work the better we can get. That being said a good coach will see where you excel and help you focus what you do well while finding the small changes that will make you better. As many people said no two people ski exactly the same, which is why the sport is so fun to watch. So my best advice is find what works for you and slowly make changes that you think may help. It sounds like you understand how to ski you just need to find what will work to make you better. Like you said before, why put more weight on your front foot when you can make equipment changes to accomplish the same thing. The only answer for that is personal preference. I think some skiers like to make equipment changes while others will try to use body position to accomplish the same goal. This sight is awesome and all the insight is great.
  10. Now that ski season is over in New England I have been using my time to watch video from the summer. I ski at 34 and was able to get my 22 off routinely and 28 off about 75% of the time. I got 2@32 off which is a PB for me and makes me want more. As I watch short line skiers, 35 to 41 off, I notice that their ski tends to skid around the ball, it reminds me of a car fishtailing in the snow. This seems to be what allows them to get great angle across the course. I do not do that when I ski, I get me ski to turn but not as quick as they do. As I watch the video they use the speed to whip their ski around the ball in front of them while I use the ski to rush past the ball and try to turn. I feel balanced on my ski but I think they have their hips and upper body behind their front foot which allows the ski to be in front of them and turn better. While I an balanced over my feet with the ski underneath me which lets me get speed but not turn as effectively. If this is correct what can I focus on at the turn or pre-turn to get in better position to turn around the ball?
  11. Yes I do. Gives you a different feel for the water and a different type of adrenaline rush. Need to change it up once in a while.
  12. I am thinking of upgrading to a Mapple 6.1 or the Goode Nano One XT. They both seem to be the same type, a cross between a traditional slalom ski and a wide ride. I am 5'8" 195 lbs, I think this will be beneficial to me. Any input about these skis would be great.
  13. Is there anyway to create the workout and post the exercises online?
  14. Thanks for the input. I just bought the boat and it has a fixed OJ prop on it. Not sure what the measurements actually are. Does the cup difference between the 422 and 668 change the wash characteristics of the wake?
  15. I just picked up a 2011 Nautique 200 with Zero Off. I mapped the course and when I pull in direction that I mapped it it beeps exactly at the gates. When I turn around and come back the other way it beeps about 3 feet before the gates consistently through the course. Did I do something wrong? Is there an easy way to fix this?
  16. Last week I was skiing on my A2 with Strada front and rear bindings. I usually pull the front bungee pretty snug as I like to feel secure to the ski and leave the back a bit loose. Well last week as I went around two ball I hit some small chop and the ski skipped out from under and skidded across the water. Not a horrific crash, however my front foot only half release from binding. As a result I severely sprained the top of my foot and broke my Talus bone in my foot. I am now off my feet for 3 months to let the bone heal. Luckily it's the end of the season up here in MA. I am only posting as a reminder to make sure that you are able to release from any binding that you are using to try to avoid a similar injury. I am considering moving to Reflex front for next season as I like the ankle support and the release mechanism are separate from each other- any input?
  17. I was wondering if any of you guys happen to change from the stock propeller to an acme propeller that reduces the engine rpm at speed? And if so are you happy with the results. I just picked up the boat and love it but at 34 mph through the course the engine rpm is around 3850 to 3950. Is that normal? I appreciate any input.
  18. Luckily I'm old enough to be skiing at 34 mph. I have been able to consistently ski my 15 off clean in back to back sets and am now working at 22 off. I have been able to make some back to back passes at 22 off but they weren't pretty. The biggest problem I'm having is monster slack at the one ball which throws of the rest of the pass. What are some tips that I can focus on to help prevent the slack?
  19. I'm curious if anyone else is skiing on the Connelly V and how they like it. I like the speed across the wake but the ski seems slow to turn for me unless I get in perfect body position, which I know is not the ski's fault. I also was wondering what you guys are using for fin settings?
