  1. Vinegar is an exceedingly weak "acid" and if it does not cause harm to humans, doubt gel-coat would be adversely impacted. Hard water stains are caused by mineral deposits which result when the water evaporates to dryness leaving the minerals (such as iron, calcium, magnesium) behind. The stronger the acid, the more quickly the mineral deposit will dissolve and the less required.

I have used muriatic acid (HCl), a strong acid on gelcoat with no adverse outcome. Lime-away is phosphoric acid which is "less strong" and also works well. Both are much "stronger acids" than vinegar. Simply apply, let minerals dissolve and rinse.

Heck, as a reference, Coke has a pH of 3.65 and vinegar has a pH of 2 to 3...both are "weak acids" despite the pH. You can ingest both with no consequence. Lime-away has a pH of 1.2 to 2.0, but is a much "stronger acid so hence will dissolve minerals more quickly. It is the "alkalinity reducing ability" of the acid which determines strength, not pH. Maybe TMI, sorry!

  2. @scoke I have the single puck Rev S. Interesting you mention 38 off. Before re-mapping best I could do was 5..and it was a heck of a fight. After remapping, ran 1@39 down the line then 2 more 38's. For sure, proper mapping makes a difference!
  3. Thanks again to all. I will say, I skied a heck of a lot better after re-mapping for whatever reason! From now on, I will be verifying the course maps on a more frequent basis...obviously important.
  4. Thanks to both @Gloersen and @Broussard. Went out this morning and both courses are in and read automatically. Thanks for the help.

On an unrelated topic, if the mapping is off by 1/2 a boat length (which it was on one course) if in tournament mode, will ZO react based on position of the boat guides or just the skier load like in practice mode? After remapping, sure felt better. Thanks again for the help.

  5. Funny, I received the same call and I am no longer a member. They are putting together info and asking about positive experiences. It is not USA Waterski, but they have been authorized by them. More than likely, trying to clarify all info and then put together a directory.....to sell you. My fraternity did the same thing under the guise of "updating information" and since I dutifully responded, I was later offered the updated directory. Maybe with membership loss, they are looking for other revenue streams?
  6. Converted to Rev S a while ago. Mapped both courses and ZO knew at which course we were each time we skied automatically.

Noticed the mapping was off (had not checked in a long time) when we idled through the course. Read a while ago about satellite drift. Deleted both courses and re-mapped. Now the ZO does not recognize at which course we are. We have to select which course from the map menu. Have not gone back out to verify but did "save the coordinates" for each course hoping that will correct the issue. Will that do it or am I missing something else? This is the old head unit, so not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks for the help and insight.

  7. Sure you have checked the usual suspects; impeller, plugged strainer or strainer tight and not sucking air. Also may want to check temp sensor to be certain temp reading is accurate. The fact that increased revs brings down temp, it sounds like lack of flow...impeller or sucking air. Good luck.
  8. Assume this is a floating course. Feel your pain as I have had courses on public lakes for 30 years. In terms of best boat guides, the cone type seems to avoid snags better than buoys but are more buoyant which may cause an issue. For me, rather than have the course arms or cable damaged, I affix the buoys with 50 lb. zip ties at the buoy, so they tear off before any further damage. Replacing buoys is far better than having to replace PVC arms and cables. This approach has worked pretty well for me over the years. Yes, you do have the occasional cable issue or broken PVC arm, but that is part of dealing with the uncaring or uninformed public. Good luck and hope that helps.
  9. The customer service from Perfski is the best. I sent an e-mail regarding availability and received an immediate response. Placed an order this morning (with free shipping and I live in Clermont!!) and received Fed Ex tracking info this afternoon. These guys are amazing. (Special thanks to Mike M. for his help). Bill Porter and his staff really care about skiers, keeping us on the water and providing the best products and service on the planet. There is no better place to "gear-up" for skiing than Performance Ski and Surf!!
  10. Skied at Swiss today and had the opportunity to try out the buoy guide. Wow, am I narrow!!! Think I managed 1 out of 8 passes to be lined up with the proper buoy. The one 32 off when I lined up with the green was so easy. It created more space into 1 and so early to 2 ball. I am NEVER up on the boat as much as I was on that pass...even at 38 off. On a 35 off pass, I looked up and I had drifted (I guess as I normally do) in to between the 32 off and 28 off buoy line. This exercise clearly demonstrated I need to be much more up on the boat. No doubt being up on the boat, with proper speed, makes for a much easier, earlier line. This may be one of the most difficult things I have worked on...definitely out of my comfort zone! It is a great teaching tool however.
  11. @mcskier41 great question. I do usually ski a set or two at factory, but over the last 20 years always tweeked the fin and boot placement. Probably old habit as every time I bought a ski from Andy Mapple and got to ski with him, he would get out his tool kit and move everything. Then back in the water and BOOM, amazing. But then, GOAT knew skis!

Agree with you, stock settings on the 2021 are about as dialed in as it can be. Just was not expecting such good results without adjustments.

Congrats on your 25 year PB.

  12. Just picked up a new 2021 Syndicate Omega to replace my 2020. Have always skied with fin on deep and short settings. The 2021 ski came with factory recommended long and shallow. Skied it on all factory settings assuming I would hate it. I even e-mailed Syndicate questioning the settings. They told me if is the white top (which it is) start with factory settings. Good call Sam! Love the ski and the settings. Early in the season but ran 5 @ 38 @34 mph at Swiss behind their new 2022 Ski Nautique. Have not changed a thing from stock. Great ski.

  13. Having been the president of our HOA, despite numerous written rules, infractions occur, and an HOA board actually has very little power to enforce the rules other than fines leading to lien on the offending property. Infraction can continue until property is sold. In an effort to better enforce HOA rules, I came to rely on County code enforcement; letting them be the bad guy and also they have some serious enforcement capability. Not sure what noise ordinances are in place for city/county in this specific instance, but that would be a good place to start if issues arise.
