  1. May 2nd, 1st set of the year at Seth's place in Charleston. Seth will be out of town but scheduled a set with Grace and Siani. Will be in Charleston on vacation and thought I should schedule a coaching set at Oz. Looking forward to starting the summer off right and learning some slalom skills!
  2. How is the water temp at the end of April at Trophy Lakes? I'll be in Charleston for a wedding at the end of April. Thought I would go ski a couple sets. Anyone know what a set cost there? Couldn't find rate info on the Trophy website. Thanks!
  3. I wear a 11.5 shoe and got the standard size Vector. Fits great! Though my foot is somewhat on the narrow side.. It's a nice snug fit.. But, if your Dad is going to be using ski to you may want to go with XL. Feather frame is lighter. That's what I have.. Seems pretty solid.
  4. Im a intermediate free skier.. Bought a 2012 Radar Senate with 2013 vector front and RTP. I feel like this ski is very stable and forgiving, and will be a good ski to progress on.
  5. I took the wing off my 67 Senate and really like how it performs now. I free ski between 30-34mph. To me the ski feels just as stable without wing and tends to carry more speed. I'm still work on crossing wake in stacked position. But, I don't plan on putting the wing back on...
  6. Just got home from my ski lesson at Alan Hendricks place outside of Dallas. Tom Brantley coached me today, he is a great guy and had me carving across the wake in no time! I also got the opportunity to ride in the boat while he skied. Started at -32 off and skied through to 39 off. I've never seen a Pro ski before so it was freaking amazing!!! I tried to take pictures with my high speed Cannon but could not keep up with him as he crossed back and forth across the wake... Guy is a beast! Awesome day!! Feel like my form improved and came away with 3 tips I will continue to use in my skiing. 1. Front knee and ankle flexed so when you look down you can't see your toes, 2nd. Arms straight and handle close to hips, and 3rd. As I cross the wake lean away from pull of boat.. Not just lean back..
  7. I'm at 29.5 with Vector front RTP rear. Feels pretty good to me.
  8. I started skiing last year at the age of 41 on a 20+ year old HO ski. After skiing a few times and feeling pretty frustrated about my form behind the boat, I decided to go get some coaching. So, I went to Dallas Ft. Worth Ski School in Geenville TX for a day of coaching. I was pretty nervous not really knowing what I was in for. So, off I went to this intriguing adventure. When I got to the property I saw this small private lake out in the middle of no where and thought this going to be interesting. I was use to skiing on a public lake behind a Cobalt IO. Keep in mind, Ive never even seen a slalom course much less a private ski lake. So, the owner Alan, walks up and said you ready to ski? I was like sure... So, I gear up, grab my old HO and jump in this pretty blue water, the whole time thinking how and why is this water blue.. Haha" dye". So, he pulls up in his SN tow boat almost at the end of the lake and I'm thinking does he have enough room to pull me up and turn around. he snatches me up and turns around heading down the lake and I'm thinking what just happened.. I'm use to getting drowned and dragged behind my Cobalt.. I start trying my best to stay stacked and cross the wake a few times as he watches me in his rear view mirror.. So, the lesson begins.... I learned a lot that day about body position, where I should be looking, and aspects of the slalom course.. I went away with my head spinning and really determined to be a better skier. Fast forward to this summer, I've been able to ski a lot more and get more comfortable with my balance behind the boat. Bought a new Radar Senate ski which I really like. I've decided to go back for another one day lesson next Saturday to really work on my stacked position and rhythm while crossing he wake.. And, did I mention I really enjoyed skiing behind that SN with that really soft small wake! The Cobalt is going up for sale soon!!! I hope to take some video or at least some action shots. I'll report back on my next ski lesson experience...
  9. I just got the 2012 Senate with 2013 Vector front and RTP rear. I really like this set up and think I will be able to progress quite well on this ski. Cost was $500.
  10. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the skis you are thinking about getting. I ride the Senate and really like it. I just free ski at 32 to 34 mph. I took the wing off and like the feel of it better.
  11. Ok thanks. I found one locally that has 212 hours on it for $18500. I'll probably go look at it.
  12. How is the 1999 PR 205 wake for skiing? Will be skiing at 15off on public lake.
  13. Thanks guys! I think I will bump mine to 29.5 and see how it feels.
  14. Who here rides a Senate? What distance do you have your front binding from the tail? I have a 2012 Senate and have front boot set at 29.25 from tail. I believe this is stock setting.. Anyone ride with boot closer to tip, say like 29.75 or 30? Just curious... I plan on skiing everyday next week, so I'll be able to play around with some different set ups.. I feel like the stock setting feels pretty good. But I'm used to skiing on a old HO that had its front binding further up on ski.. Probably around 32 in from tail..
  15. Looking forward to your review of the Freeride! I almost bought one.. Still might! I'm keeping my eye on one at a local shop. See if it goes on sale at end of summer..
  16. I'll be in CO Springs on vacation, first week in July. Any place there to grab a set or two and maybe a ski lesson?
  17. I live on a pretty big public lake in AR, and the water can get rough on holidays when a lot of people are out boating. I would want a multipurpose ski boat that could handle the lake and not take on water over the bow.. Just looking for a boat that can haul my family around when out pleasure riding and have a wake that is better to ski than my Cobalt 200.
  18. I to ski on open water behind a IO. I just got a 2012 Senate at Wakehouse.com and really like this ski. I've only skied on it once so far but really like it right off the bat. Easy to get up on, light weight and stable. I'm still working on edging thru the big wake of my IO though. I'm 5''9 and 170lbs, so I went with a 67. oh, and I really like the Vector bindings. Super comfortable!
  19. My research is telling me that v drives really aren't that great for skiing.. Maybe I should look for an older DD boat just for skiing and keep the Cobalt for family use... I doubt that will fly with the wifey though. Lol!
  20. Thanks! I would go for any of these boat recommendations, but I don't think my wife or other family members would like the engine in the middle of the boat.. Are any Vdrive boats ok for slalom skiing? Thanks again!
  21. Need a boat recommendation! Will be free skiing on large public lake. So, I would like 20-22 footer, open bow, decent slalom wake, I guess any wake will be better than my Cobalt's wake.It does need to be able to handle rough water while out cruising with family. I have a family of 4. So, it has to have room and storage. Budget 25k . What are my options? Thanks!
  22. I free ski on public lake between 32-34 mph on a Senate. Should I consider removing my wing? Thoughts?
