  1. @horton , my fin isnt the kind with lots of adjustments. I changed the fin because the color clashed with the ski. Bought a demo ski and they had clearly replaced the fin. It was a bright red Syndicate fin with multiple adjustment capabilities. Didnt quite match the blue, green, and black ski. So i put the fin from my HO Triumph on. Its a silver, standard looking fin. I also like it better because it has the preset angles/degrees printed on it for the wing. It just has 6 screws and 3 hole options for the screw placement. Also, im not that great of a skier yet so hopefully it doesnt throw me off too much. I found a thread on MasterCrafts website concerning fins and wings. A lot of individuals said unless you ski 34 to 36 mph and atat short lines, there's no need for the wing. Can anyone confirm this? Next time i go out will be my first time on the new ski. Ive decided to leave the wing completely off for now. I guess ill never know which i like better until i try it. I've also heard that wings make deepwater starts easier? Hoping to learn a lot about stuff like this at Coble Ski School. I've got a lot of questions for them!
  2. Hey all. Sorry if there has already been a discussion about this, however, I'm very new to BOS. I'm getting ready to put a different fin on my 65" HO Coefficient X SL. The old one didn't match. I've heard various things about the wing that goes on the fin (I think that's what they are referred to as). Some people say they remove the wing, some people swear by it. What is your opinion and what should I do? I consider myself an intermediate to advanced skier. I'm strictly open water at the moment but after Coble Ski School I'm hoping to learn the course :) The fin I am about to put on the ski is an "HO Comp Fin". Also, I have the option to set the wing at 7, 5, and 3 degrees (if a fin at all). Currently I ski right around 30/32 mph. What are your recommendations. By the way, thank you all very much for the support when I post questions. I can tell this is a strong community that knows what they are talking about!
  3. Just reserved two spots at Coble for their last week of ski school of the season. Have heard great things about it and can't wait. Anyone been to Coble?
  4. My wife and I would like to take a trip before the summer is over. We have been thinking about a weekend at a ski school. Traveling distance isn't really an issue. Just as long as it's in the US :) Does anyone have experience in the area or a suggestion for us? Thank you very much for the help!
  5. @MJE thanks! Went ahead and bought it, lol. Looks like a decent deal on a year or two old ski. Hopefully the blemish(s) aren't too bad. It's by far the best deal I've seen yet on any Coefficient. I also wanted the SL and it's 65". Really appreciate the heads up on that one.
  6. @crashman - unbelievable! We always wondered who had that house on top of the hill across from the marina and restaurant. There's no such thing as a house on Brookville since it's a state park, but we always figured the house on the hill was either far enough away or "grandfathered-in" a long time ago when they built the lake over the town of Fairfield. Neat to hear from another native in the area. We are actually from the Indianapolis area and drive to Brookville every weekend. I will definitely consider that league. I guess you just have to dig a little deep to find ski courses in Indiana. Thanks for the shout!
  7. Love the advice. I also believe in a straight boat line. The only reason we were following the shoreline is because it was sheltering the wind and thus providing the smoothest water. Your description of my current slalom stage is perfect, lol. And yes I'm completely addicted to the sport!
  8. Excellent advice. Loved that article too. Very descriptive and easy to understand. Might even have to hang it up on the refrigerator! Currently skiing at Brookville Lake, Indiana. It's not the greatest lake for slalom but we compensate by only skiing at the best times (mornings, sunset, weekdays, etc.). Been boating on the lake since I was 4 years old. Currently 26 so that lake has been a big part of my life. Our family also has a 60 ft. houseboat that stays parked on the lake which makes the weekends quite convenient. If anyone's ever in the area one weekend and wants to help my wife and I with our slalom technique, we'd be glad to supply the gas, food, boat and beer!
  9. Okay. I'm brand new to BallOfSpray. Please don't poke fun at me, lol. This is only my second year of slalom skiing. I'm an open water skier. Not quite lucky enough to be around a course. Indiana kinda stinks when it comes to slalom skiing. I'm a strong member in the MasterCraft TeamTalk community. Everyone there told me that I should check this sight if I'm concerned about my slalom abilities. I'm currently skiing on a 67" HO Triumph which I believe is too large for me. I'm 5'8 and weigh 150. In this video I am skiing at 15 off and roughly 30 to 32 mph. My MasterCraft 209 does have PerfectPass, however, my father forgot to turn it on before starting my run (hence the hand signals). All friendly comments and tips are welcome! Also, do you think I should consider moving to a different ski? Maybe one that's more aggressive or at least a little shorter to fit my build? Thank you all so much. I'm excited to be apart of BOS and hope to build valuable information! CLICK LINK FOR VIDEO youtube.com/watch?v=nYqSTjaX76w
  10. I've been on the site. It would seem that no one wants to sell their Coefficients, lol. Haven't seen one for sale on the site since I've been searching :(
  11. I'm new to ballofspray. Regular member on MasterCraft's TeamTalk. Have been looking to upgrade from my 67" HO Triumph. I've been told the ski is a little too big for me. I'm 5'8 and a little less than 150 lbs. Hoping to find a 65" maybe 66". I've heard some great things about the Coefficients. Any input would also be appreciated. Thanks!
