  1. Comment from one of the women.... I wanted to ski the morning of my wedding, but it was October and the boat had to be pulled for winter before my wedding day. My heart says yeah, go ski! But my brain says no, there is always something where help is needed in the morning. 2 hours is a pretty small window on a wedding day. Also, you will be pretty tired just starting the day, with the rehearsal dinner the night before, last minute prep, all the emotion... You will need all the rest you can get. Congrats to you and your daughter.
  2. @SusanT, we are here! Now if only we could get a Kilo Kai ad with a hot guy in it.
  3. @savaiusini‌, I too have been looking at a second ski for free skiing. My current ski is an S1. I was looking for something that can handle chop from wind or boat traffic. I went with a Freeride, and it is really fun, but I get a lot of slack on the turns. Clearly it is due to my form and not being patient on the turns. After your post I am wondering if a CX Super Light might have been more what I was looking for. @SDNAH2OSKIER‌, did you pick a ski?
  4. Possible job opportunity in Roanoke. Can anyone provide info. on skiing in the area? Thanks!
  5. @MaryTee I think most of the wetsuits are Unisex, I have a 1mm Mono/Shorty and LOVE it! They are very stretchy, so it works for women too. Robby at Robby's Ski Shop is great with questions! @MrJones‌ , I think same rules apply for women too. I am 5'11'' and went with a large for the shorty because I was worried about length. However, this year I ordered the 1mm top, and went with Medium, at advice of Robby because I didn't have to worry about length. She was right. Medium may have worked for the shorty, but large has certainly been fine and warmer and nicer than my old wetsuit.
  6. As a fellow Wisconsinite, I will chime in. Love my Camaro! I have the 1mm Camaro Blacktec Shorty (has long sleeves) and wore it into October last year. It is very warm and flexible. Love it so much I got a 1mm top for those cool summer days we get. @waterskigirl (robbysskishop.com) has been fantastic with questions and getting them sent quickly. The only thing you have to be careful about is to not put a fingernail through it.
  7. @Jody_Seal‌ , thank you so much for the response! But the day before your post we ordered a long block from a local business. We had to act fast due to our short season. If it doesn't work out we will contact you and make that trip to Florida. Sounded like a great plan, although a ski site named Gator hole is a bit scary for a Midwestern girl :-). Any suggestions on hours/rpms for breaking in our new engine?
  8. Went a few weeks ago for the first time. LOVED IT!
  9. Wanted to follow-up my previous post to look for mechanic to replace an engine in our 02 SN 196. Thinking about a crate PCM engine or a long block. Any recommendations for someone who would be willing to take this on and could get it done in a reasonable timeframe. Summer is short in Wisconsin, especially this year. Many thanks!
  10. Thanks everyone for the good advice. @vtjc thanks especially for the links, we are in Wisconsin.
  11. Overheated and cracked block in our 2002 Ski Nautique 196. Boat is in great shape otherwise. When our shop mentioned a new engine I assume that will be complete with pistons, valves, heads, etc. and the carb, intake manifold, risers etc. (basically anything that bolts on outside of the engine) will be salvaged from the current engine. Am I understanding this correctly? Any advice on other things to consider? Any thoughts on PCM vs. other GM block engine manufacturers? Thanks!
  12. I have a 2002 Ski Nautique 196 with speedometer issues. The speedo often registers an impossible high speed, like 40's when barely moving. Sometimes it is accurate but often too high. We have the paddlewheel, not pitot tubes, and no PerfectPass. I noticed that one of the two vertical guides on the side of the paddlewheel has broken off and I am guessing this is causing the paddle to free spin? I am guessing I need to replace the paddlewheel assembly and am wondering if anyone had any advice before I jump in. Thanks!
  13. Any tall women out there recently order a Camaro wetsuit? From the website, the women's sizes max out at 5'10"? I understand the Black Tec may be more unisex. Can any tall women provide a review of the fit and sizing? Private message would be great if you don't want to post size details, or would be willing to discuss via messaging. Thank you!!!
  14. Thanks @ShaneH! I like it and will remember that. Think one of my other issues was moving to starting with both feet in, versus dragging one. My RTP on the new ski was tighter and harder to jam the foot in far enough when I dragged a foot. So I decided to make the change after 20+ years the other way. Every now and then I struggle, mostly when in the drysuit. Funny though, that when I used my ski partners double boot setup, I had no problem.
  15. @Morg, is your struggle to get out of the water because the ski is so buoyant? I have an S1 and it was very difficult at first. (But worth it because I love the ski!) And then when I transition to my drysuit, I feel like a bobber in the water and sometimes struggle. I do release all the air possible from the drysuit and stay tucked like a ball and somehow make it work, but was completely self taught regarding my starts. Any advice you learn during your lesson, or from the experts on this site to make things easier is appreciated. Thanks!
  16. Sounds like a lot of you travel with your ski. Any advice for how to fly your ski and not get it messed up? I am a bit protective of my ski. Only had driving trips in the past, but as I am probably in my last 2 weeks of the season, thinking about a trip South. Thanks.
  17. Any recommendations for a ski school in the Austin, TX area? I have a work trip in late Oct. and because my season will have just ended, thought taking a lesson would be a good excuse for a few runs. Houston options are welcome too, but not sure I will be making it over there this trip. Thanks.
  18. Agree 100% with the rowing suggested. I love the TRX suspension system and rip trainer. Lots of core with every exercise. And I love working out with kettlebells, but should be trained on the correct form first. If near Madison, there is a good gym that has all of the above. Also, if you don't have one already, get a drysuit. It will extend the WI season through October and can start early May, maybe even earlier depending on when the ice goes off your lake.
  19. Finally getting a new shorty wetsuit. Need it for slalom skiing in WI lakes; sometimes even for cool days during the summer. Note, I am a somewhat tall (5'11'') female, so suggestions from anyone similar would be great! I have some ideas, but thought I would see if anyone has any favorites they would recommend. Thanks!
  20. Thermostat not opening? Cheap fix under $20?
  21. @MS. Thanks for the offer, but really didn't know what I would want and decided I had to go to a ski shop to actually grip them. But still difficult to tell in the shop. We will see when I try it tomorrow. Thanks again for the advice, from everyone.
  22. @lcarnes - I too love my Progears and need another pair. But haven't been able to find them lately, any suggestions?
  23. For training, check out the TRX suspension systems, or their rip trainer. Get strength, core, and intervals in your workout. No I don't sell it, just love it. Think it also helps my hand/grip strength.
  24. I am not the expert like most of the other people on this forum, but can say I LOVE LOVE LOVE my S1. I think you will be able to tell a difference between skis and if possible find a ski shop that lets you try a few skis. Some will even ship to you a few to try. I was targeting a Radar, liked it, but the S1 just clicked with my style and I have really been able to improve. You will be amazed at the difference between the 80's skis.
  25. jfw432: Probably grip more with finger tips, always trying to wrap my hands around handle more, but seems to uncurl. Yes, always gloves, Men's small. Elbows don't hurt, and hands are more spread out. Thanks!
