  1. I think the current gate rule is not the issue, but rather what is being asked of the judges needs to change. There are three judges viewing in real time. Simple, majority rules. A split call from the towers should not warrant a review if the boat judge gives credit. Go to video if both judges are not certain of the call; the intent of a review is clearing uncertainties not reversing calls.

On another note, the officiating work at SC Regionals was ideal. A seamlessly run event.

  2. I have never been more proud to be associated with an event. Sonny and Eileen, selflessly, logged hundreds of hours bringing their vision to light. It was simple in theory: an event that catered to the athletes first, and could additionally raise funds to assist returned war vets. They succeeded on both counts. They aren't judges or drivers, but they contribute to the sport in their own, very tangible way. Countless professional and amateur skiers have carved their paths through Utopia River Ranch under the guidance of Eileen and Sonny. They approach the sport in the simplest of terms: hard work prevails. It doesn't matter where you start, only where you end. The same mindset guides them through business, family, and life. We thank the Berry's. Sonny and Eileen.
  3. Picking up the load later is definitely the goal, but like anything, it can not be addressed in isolation. It is the result, not the action. You are right, it is a result of your path off the second wake, which is a result of the speed at your gate. Maintaining static pressure into the wakes, or close to it, allows you to leave the wakes without losing your structural alignment or your direction. This sets up a faster (not sharper) turn allowing your speed to decrease at a slower rate. The longer you can maintain speed through the turn, the later, and just as importantly the lighter the load on the rope will occur.

    Its all connected.

  4. Guys. The support through the Balllers has been incredible, and further cements my home here at BOS. Unreal, and thanks to everyone that has stepped up so far, and to those that will this week. I'm aiming for $1000, and we're halfway there. It's crazy, we saving our own lives... Lets do this. My top donator will be offered a free video coaching session or a day skiing with me here in Texas. Lets make change (to both the disease and your skiing.)
