  1. @Kris +1 for the MOB release. But just be aware that with a mechanical release, unless you just happen to be about the same weight, height and ability you will each want different release settings to be safe. They do also require maintenance. There are quite a few threads on here about all the different binding systems. Definitely encourage you to check them out to get a feel for the pros and cons of each.
  2. What kind of boat is he skiing behind? If its a "real" ski boat, I think it might be a real struggle. As a 15 off skier just running into 34mph now I have struggled with the wake of the Nautique. Especially at the slower speeds where the wake is large. I could only imagine what it would be like for a light kid to cut the wakes at such a slow speed. I'm not sure if its an option, but if you have access to light boat with a small wake it might give him the confidence to try staying stacked and learn the feeling, without the consequence.
  3. @david_quail @gt2003 i'm skiing 15off 32-34mph. So take this for what its worth. As far as what to look at goes, I had a lesson at Ozski resort last year that was a bit of a revelation. she told me once I knew I was going to round the ball (so before I got to the ball) to look across the course at the next ball, 5-10ft up course of it. I didn't ask what she saw in my skiing that made her give me that advice, but I think I was drawing out my turns too much especially off side. Probably like @gt2003. The result was that that my turns were much quicker and the hookups much better. I didn't get that feeling of slack rope half way around my off side that makes me wait until the slack goes before I can lean again and finish the turn. It worked so well that I hit the ball a few times because I finished the turn way further up course than I was used to, and once ended up completing the turn fully up course of the ball! It feels weird to do and I still forget to do it, especially when I'm working on other things. Its still not natural, but I definitely recommend giving it a go, especially if your turns are drawn out and you end up a long way down course during a turn. The other thing that works for me getting around my offside turn is to counter rotate. Again it feels very unnatural to the point i dont do it often but when I do and get it right I turn in a smooth arc, stay more centered on the ski, hips have more of a tendency to stay up, and the hookups seem smooth and more predictable. That's what works for me anyway. Now if only I could do it consistently!
  4. Anyone else done any ear drum damage? I would have thought our sport would be a prime candidate for it. I did some damage surfing way back when and for that reason wear a Gath helmet skiing (despite how uncool it looks). Apart from my ski partner who has ear probs as well I've never seen anyone else wearing one.
  5. Check out Hortons recent review of the Senate and other mid range skis. I have a Senate graphite and think it's a great ski. Way more forgiving than my old Annex. My advice as a fifteen off skier, spend some money on coaching (even online) so you don't waste years figuring out what to do.
  6. I just received mine in the mail yesterday. Great vest. I'm at the opposite end to you. It fits good now, but I hope it doesn't stretch much over time. Maybe I should go to the gym as it stretches:)
  7. @Horton I'm just finalising an order with Thomas for the evo2 vest. Ill probably go xl but with a 43" chest and 37" waist I could possibly go L. Thomas said your xl fitted you well just wondering what size you are. If you dont mind saying:)
  8. @ozski was your son keen to give skiing a go or did it take a bit of persuasion or may be bribery. My 8 year old son always says he'll give it a go but when we are out in the boat it's always "not today". Not sure if I should resort to bribery etc. I can imagine a kid being a little nervous about skiing for the first time. Anyone got any bright ideas? I can imagine that would be pretty cool seeing your son up a slalom ski. Awesome!
  9. When I went for some coaching at OZ Ski resort, she had me look cross course about 10 feet before the ball once I knew I would make it around the previous ball. Ie look up course of 2 when rounding 1. When I do it I'm often way earlier than I normally am. I think for me if I look at the ball I target fixate and go there ending up narrow. The only problem I had was when I first started doing it I'd look cross course and end up turning tighter and run over the ball. Which was actually a blessing once I sorted my timing out. The only problem I have with looking up course like that is it tends to close me off coming out of an offside turn which didnt happen so much when I looked at the back of the boat. Anyone got any ideas on how to solve that problem?
  10. @mmosley899 Just read your site again. Says only fits MOB mounting plate. So no go i guess.
  11. @mmosley899 I thought i'd post this over here. After reading @OB1 comments about the thinner G10 plate (its the boot plate right?) I'm interested in trying one. Sounds like it will go straight on the OB4 system which I have. how much thinner is it over the original? And do you think a 15off guy would notice a difference?
  12. @mmosley899 Thanks Mike. I do like that there's slots. Like you say infinitely adjustable. Do you normally measure from the very bottom of the boot where it meets the base? A little off topic but I'm loving your binding. After moving from Wileys I feel like Ive got much better edge control. But the safety was what sold it for me. I've taken a few otf where the binding released without even feeling it! Its given me a lot of confidence. Thanks for producing a great product!
  13. Thanks @eddie_roberts_jr . Really looking forward to getting it wet this weekend.
  14. @eddie_roberts_jr or other Radar guys. I've got a 2017 67" graphite senate coming my way in a couple of days. I was just wanting to find out the stock settings for the ski. Particularly the boot measurement. Cant seem to find anything on the web site. I'm using the OB4 system, they use slots rather than holes, so I'm guessing screw goes in the middle of the slot, but it would be good to confirm. I'm only a 32-34mph skier so I probably wont play with fin settings, but would be good to check that they are at stock to begin with. Looking forward to trying it out over the Annex I'm currently running. Thanks.
