  1. When I was living in Canada I bought a repo boat out of Salem Oregon. The import was easy, way easier than I thought it was going to be.

As stated above the government has 3 things they are most concerned about:

    1) VIN for the trailer. If you can get that info and call Canada Customs prior to getting to the boarder it will significantly decrease your time at the border.

    2) GST - you will have to pay this at the boarder at the time of crossing. Note only cash or major credit card

    3) Bill of Sales. Do them separate as someone above mentioned. Make sure they are signed by the seller and you.

You might get lucky enough to have the seller drop the price on the Bill of Sales a couple thousand to save you a few dollars in GST but mark my word you don't want to get caught because they add a stiff fine on top of it.

I just used my trailer plate from my other boat to pull the new one home. When I got to the border the lady asked me if I was importing a boat I said yes. She made me pull up and come inside with my paper work. I took it in, she did the trailer search and was simple because it had previously been searched as good. I paid my GST and was driving again in less than 10 mins.

Trailer inspected at Canadian Tire in Wetaskiwin for $0.00 and registered in AB same day.

You can pm me if you want anymore help with this but it is easier than I thought it would be.

  2. Does Jackfish Lake suffer the algae issues that Wizard & Pigeon do early on in the year?

One of the worst parts of summer when we lived there was that damned algae and us having to go farther from home to ski!

Happy to not have to worry about that anymore. :)

  3. The ski is definitely too big. You should be riding a 67" ski. You will feel way more in touch with the ski and you will be able to make better body alignment changes.

A good example of this is in the video you just posted your hips are back and it doesn't appear that you are getting the ski to come all the way around the turn of your offside.

If you're going to ski lots, and ski to improve, get a good ski and good bindings...........you'll be glad you did! :)

  4. @bdoe22796 - I'm 5' 10" and 205 pounds. I ride a 67" Pro Build based on the recommendations of TFinn.

I tried 68" skis in the past and couldn't get the skis to turn far enough. I seemed to fight the ski.

It was TFinn who I ran my first 28 off pass with on a 68" ski that said to me "Great work but we need to get you on a 67" ski"

Personal practice best is a few at 35 off - wished I could ski half that good in tournaments but that's for another thread! :)

  5. Practice sets last night, 2 days before a tournament and RIP!!!! Huge tear in middle of hand!

I super glued it together hoping I can get it to bind back together before Saturday.

Advice on looking after it on Saturday fellow skiers?

  6. @slow - I have been using Radar products for years now and their customer service is second to none in this industry.

I'm more than sure they do their due diligence in getting to the root of any issue they have with any of their products.

Heck I have a buddy who's ski came apart well after he bought it and skied on it for a long time and they sent him a brand new upgrade at no cost and no questions asked.

Companies like Radar aren't successful just because they replaced something - they fix the whole problem.
