  1. Yes-Kimball water skis. I learned to ski behind that exact Evinrude model-1957 model on a 1957 fiberglass Wizard.
  2. My beloved Fairland Water Ski Club in Fairland Indiana has received notice that our lease will not be renewed. The Fairland Recreation Center offered a swimming beach, miniature golf, batting cages, camping, and was host to a water ski club since the mid 1960's. Numerous tournaments/events including the Indiana State Championships were held there. Popularity of the Recreation Center diminished over the years and now it appears that the lake will be filled in for commercial purposes. I'm personally fortunate to have an alternative site to play at but still a personal loss at the demise of a once active site where we had so much fun. Good Bye Fairland. Dave Jarrett - President Indiana Water Ski Association
  3. My old trusty Taperflex from the 1960's
  4. I think this Kimball fiberglass slalom ski is dated 1957. Note the huge fin.
  5. This pair of Kimball water skis came from my dentist as a gift. I believe they were the first fiberglass water skis. I did put them on and skied around lake a few years ago.
  6. Attended the Cincinnati, Ohio show today. Sadly no ski boats and not even a single water ski! How about a Bennington Pontoon with a 350 HP Yamaha for $220,000?!
  7. Kevin Day and his Missouri Disabled Water Ski Association members skied on the Mississippi River in front of the St. Louis Arch on January 1st. Air 37-Water 40.
  8. Skied Indiana today. Brought out the fat boy and wetsuit for a "November Ski." Water was 45 and air was 45.
  9. Free skied today in Indiana. Beautiful sunny day with glass. Our water still warm even after a week of nights in the 30's!
  10. Skied today in Indiana. We've had cold nights in the low 30's for the past week so I see the heat rising out of the lake each morning. We had a beautiful sunny day today and put the boat in and enjoyed the glassy water! I found it hard to believe that the water was still warm.
  11. Well...Our summer weather ended abruptly on Tuesday with a high of 85 degrees and water at 75 degrees. Cold spell arrived in Indiana with lows in the 30's and highs in the 50's but.....water is still warm but no for long! !
  12. Water warmed back up to 75 today. Indianapolis area enjoying a heat wave with air temperature predicted to be near 90 tomorrow! Ski On!
  13. Air 83 - Water 70 on October 1st, Indianapolis, In. Heat wave predicted all week....lots of skiing left!
  14. I never thought of myself as a "southerner" until conversing with Cent and Bananron! Skied on October 1st at Fairland Ski Club near Indianapolis, Indiana with ski buddy. Water was 70 degrees and air was 83 degrees. (Having a heat wave all week long!)
  15. I think I see a trip to Minnesota in my future! davejarrett46@yahoo.com
  16. I'm fortunate to be a member of this elite group! My resume is very similar to bananaron and Cent having started water skiing as a youngster and now still skiing recreationally and competitively in my 70's. My home base is in Indiana on Sweetwater Lake for recreation and Brewski Lake in Indianapolis for more serious swerving. I'd be interested in meeting somewhere next summer to swap stories and swerve together! Maybe we could talk Horton and this terrific web site into hosting!?
  17. I still got the 66" left foot forward that I pictured in an earlier post. If interested e-mail me at davejarrett46@yahoo.com.,
  18. I have one...left foot forward. I used once....too big....skiing on a 64 inch wide ride. I bought it used but it looks brand new. Drilled with inserts for standard boot patterns.
  19. Now that Nationals are over, I'm trying to come to terms with the new rule from USA Water Ski concerning Mens 8 speed. If I remember correctly at my advanced age, the maximum speed for Mens 8 will now go up to 32 miles per hour in order to be in agreement with the IWWF. I've been skiing 30 mph for a couple of years and now trying to decide whether to go 32 or stay at 30 and suffer a six buoy penalty. Any other Mens 8 skiers out there having this same dilemma?
  20. When your devoted ski buddy turns against you, you know the end is near! At least I'm buying/trying new skis and new boats rather than depends and rocking chairs!
  21. Dave the Dummy here! Looking at the wrong holes!!! Figured it out! Kind of like trying to put a square peg in a round hole! Thanks to Wileys.....they answered my e-mail questions with a personal phone call and explanation.
  22. New Radar Lithium just arrived. I went to install my Wiley bindings and the hole pattern doesn't match/line up by a long shot. What did I do wrong? I left e-mail messages at both Wileys and Radar.
  23. Just curious? I have a 2015 MC with bow cover and all front upholstery. My ski friend has a 2017 with all the goodies underneath the bow cover. Neither of us have ever had the bow cover off. Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen any photos of Mastercrafts being used with the bow cover off!
  24. So......We have a ski lake in Indianapolis, Indiana. What would be a fair rental fee for lake and bring your own boat? Electricity, camping, and bath on site-nearby motels.
