  1. Thank you all for your advices, I will check all the ski schools you mentioned.
  2. Hello from France, I am looking for a place to ski in October 2022. My wife will be having foot surgery one month before so she will not be able to ski. So I am looking for a place where I can ski and where she can swim in the sea. So the ski must be not too far from the sea.... Saint Martin in the French West Indies was such a place but the ski school has closed recently. Do you have any idea where we could go ? Any place like that in Florida ? In Mexico ? Thank you for your help. Season has just started today for us in Paris with a 58 degrees water temp and a sunny day. Nicolas
  3. I use to go very often to Cancun to ski. Staying at Club Med, skiing with Scott Smith. Since Scott is not serious any longer, I did not ski there again. I would love to return. Tell me when you open, I will visit you for sure. Nicolas (from France)
  4. Goog afternoon, I was wondering why this beautiful house is for sale for such a long time ? A house like this would exist in France, I would buy it right away. Any idea ? Is it in the middle of nowhere ? Is it way to expensive ? Thank you for your answer. Have a good day. Nicolas (from France) http://www.reserveatpinelake.com
  5. I am in France and I watch the slalom men series. The TV commentator does not know anything about waterski and it is a pain to listen to him....
  6. size M for sure I am 5.9 and 170 pounds and M is perfect
  7. You are perfectly right. I was the one defending Scott as he had been always great with us. But this time he has been impolite, liear and not correct. People change sometime.
  8. It is not a repost This story is brand new, we are still in cancun...
  9. Hi everyone For many years now, we love to go to cancun to ski. We stay at club med which is a great place for the kids and for us as well and we use to ski with Scott Smith outside the club. Scott as always been very nice to us, very patient , good coach and friendly. The water conditions are great, there is no wind, the water is flat and very warm. We have been there 6 times so far, most of the times 2 weeks in August. So last February, we decided to go to cancun again. I called Scott to confirm his availability, booked with him 3 sets a day for 2 weeks for my wife and I. He was on time the first day and we had 3 good days of skiing. We had heared in the past some bad stories about Scott but with us, he had always been almost on time and in good shape. But the fourth day he did not show up. I called him, I texted him, but could not talk to him. The fifth day he arrived 2 hours late with a crazy explanation concerning his truck that did not start. I don't know why but I then gave him some money for the 3 first days of ski, without calculating the exact amount (I gave him a little more than I owed him). Then he never came back. Never. I talked to him once and he gave me an appointment, he did not make it. He called me to give me another appointment, he did not come. Then nothing. We are now in cancun for 13 days and hopefully, we could ski at club med early in the morning in good conditions. I am not here to destroy Scott's reputation, but what he has done to us is not acceptable and should be known by all of us so other skiers won't be disappointed again. It was our last time in cancun, next time we will go to Saint Martin or Costa Rica again, 2 other nice places with great people and good ski conditions. Nicolas, from France. PS : Scott, if you read those words, you should be ashamed, and you still owe me some money...
  10. I am using OB4 bindings in France for a year so far but never had the "chance" to do a very bad front fall... I am only skiing 55 and 18 meters but out on buoy 3 last saturday, I should have release the rope as I was very late but finally I decided to go to buoy 4... Crossing the wake I went forward and.... had a very impressive fall. On the boat they thought I was dead, on the ground even worse.... I hit the water first on my ribs, 2 days later it stills hurt a lot. Then my ski went over my head, or maybe all the way around and my ski hit the water on the side. I felt the release and I was so happy just to feel a small twist tension on my ankle. I was the first time I released with this new binding, I must say I am happy now for the money I spent. I think that with my previous Reflex, I would have torn my ankle. These bindings are not very popular in France, I haven't seen anybody using them so far. This is my little story today... Have some good ski. Nicolas
  11. I have an old pair black and white, they are 3 years old. They are brand new, never been in the water, but I do not remember if they are L or M. They are at my office, I can check tomorrow monday and let you know. But it seems you need XS.... Nicolas
  12. @barefooter2@baller I must say you are right concerning the wind, it is sometime a little windy otherwise, everything else is just great
  13. Looks like a good place to get a few runs in but not a ski destination. To be honest, this is not true.... Saint Martin is a perfect place to ski, even for very good skiers. The coachs are good, the boats are good, the water is good, the slalom is good. There are plenty of good french skiers who are skiing there year after year, believe me. Have fun. Nicolas
  14. why don't you try Saint Martin http://www.skicaraibes.com a great place to ski and a great place for after ski warm water and great weather as well in March
  15. should I say If you are a beginner skier, Club Med is very fine UNLESS during French vacation where you have to wait quiet a long time before skiing. OR If you are a beginner skier, Club Med is very fine EXCEPT during French vacation where you have to wait quiet a long time before skiing. Thank you....
  16. Hello, I have been in Cancun 6 times during the last 4 years. August, April and December. So I really know about skiing in Cancun. If you are a beginner skier, Club Med is very fine unless during French vacation where you have to wait quiet a long time before skiing. I you are a "slalom beginner" you can ski with club med, they have a specific schedule for slalom every morning from 8 to 9. But the boats do not have any perfect pass or Zero off. And the course is wrong and you can not sink after the 6 buoys, only after 2 times 6 buoys. And there is no coaching at all. Last August, I was the best club med skier and I was skiing better that the 4 ski GO's. They are very friendly but are not good coachs. (I ski 22 off at 34, so you see I am not good....) If you are a good skier and if you want to ski in perfect conditions, go with Scott. Some will tell you that he is an alcoholic and that he never shows up, this is not true. He is sometime late, for sure. But my wife and I have done 6 times 2 weeks of slalom ski with him. 3 times 6 passes a day. And we had great coaching, great service and very good feeling, he is a very nice guy. He has 2 courses just outside club med depending on the wind. The water is most of the time flat like my swimming pool. His boat is not new but works great and you can take your time between the passes, he picks you up at club med if you are staying there and Scott is very friendly. If you want some more info, you can contact me of course. Go with Scott but be sure to call him before to let him know you go to Cancun just for him.... Have a good day. Nicolas, from France.
  17. In France, only one place is still open from november to march, it is close to Saint Raphael, on the French Riviera. Most other places are closing end of October to re open beginning of March, although the water is freezing in March in Paris….. Australia is quite far away. The most convenient place for us to ski in perfect conditions is Saint Martin, but we have been there many times. We are now thinking of Costa Rica for sure. I will let you know our destination.
  18. We are thinking of Costa Rica. Texas or West Palm Beach would not look like vacation to us On the other side of the world, there is also Sri Lanka and Thailand... Thank you for your ideas.
  19. We are from France and are looking for a nice place to ski in december. We know Saint Martin, Cancun, where else would you suggest ? Warm water, nice location….. Thank you for your help. Nicolas
  20. Thank you all of you for your answers. I am 47, 5,9 and 165 pounds. I ski for only 4 years and I ski at 34, my best of the best is 22 off. I ski with my muscles and not with my technique I must say. I honestly think that I am very very close to my best level, if I go to 28 off one day, it will be a miracle... In France, we can buy most of the skis, D3, Reflex, HO, Radar, Sans Rival… but it is not easy to try them. Actually, it is the winter season and in only 1 or 2 ski school, in the south of France, you can try before you buy, but not before April because of the weather. I am going to ski in March in Saint Martin and I was considering buying a new ski and have it sent there for me. In Saint Martin, they propose me to try the Quest only. Then, the skis are 35 % cheaper in your country than in mine, that also makes a difference. If I buy a 2013 new ski, then the difference in price is 50 %… I am in touch with a famous ski store in Florida, they propose me the Nano one XT, but it is not the cheapest ski on the market… Of course, I can wait till the sunny season and try many skis in my club, this might be the option and have the ski sent from Florida to LA in August where I will travel to before skiing in Cancun. Can you explain what you mean, I do not understand when you say : @scotchipman be honest with your self we all know you will never get off a Goode for too long. Thank you for your comments. Nicolas
  21. I am considering buying a new ski. But In France we do not have much choice and I am thinking of buying it without trying it. Does it sound crazy for you ? I am not a very good skier but I want to please myself with a nice ski. Do you think I am making a mistake ? Thank you for your answers. Nicolas
  22. a great place to ski very professional, perfect water conditions. ask for Laurent or Brigitte. Excellent coach and so friendly, David is there too. Cancun is fine too but if you go to club med, you will be disappointed with the ski at club med. Ask Scott from waterskicancun to make you ski, he is great. Nicolas
  23. Good morning, A french family, parents are skiers and 2 kids (19 and 21) is looking for a place to ski next August, anywhere in the world. Some good ski for us and a place where my kids will be sure to meet some friends. Something like Club Med maybe ? We did Club Med Cancun and Cancun waterski outside Club Med, it was great. We did Saint Martin in the French Indies. Do you have any idea where is this place ? Thank you for your help. Nicolas
  24. Can someone help me with water temperature in Orlando late october ? Here, in Paris, France, it is still 55 degrees as our spring is a disaster... Thank you Nicolas
