  1. I had about the exact same injury 5 years ago in August except crushed both heals in Connelly drafts plus the broken tib and fib. I spent 3 months In a wheelchair and 3 more on crutches. I skied in May the next year. Do your rehab, take it slow then when you feeling like you can walk again take a video of you sking and your boots and show your therapist how you ski and that your not combo sking. Most of the them don't get it until they see it. Five years later I'm sking and running 5ks without to many issues....just plan on having stiff ankles in the morning. My wife says I look pretty old shuffling around in the morning until my ankles loosen up. Good luck if you have question PM me.
  2. @horton what do I need to do to get a free wakeye! My wife says I'll do anything for a buck let alone something waterski related!
  3. @countymountie‌ I'm not really looking for training, just for a few(probably bad) ski sets mid winter just because I can and hopefully wthin 60 days from then being back on the water here in Mo. Just for fun. Better than hanging out with my boss.
  4. I'm at a conference Feb 22-25 at the Epcot resorts. 1. Is it going to be to cold to ski.2. Is there a place that I could ski and rent equipment as I won't have to opportunity to bring mine? Thanks for any suggestion!
  5. The original one I made was a slip over like the others but. I mounted the top of a tripod mount to the top this gave me both x and y axis to adjust it. I think I still have a picture of it that I can post but this would solve your problem and is pretty inexpensive.
  6. This is the one I made over the winter, if it has a swivel pylon this would work with just a little adjustment in angle. Less than $35 in aluminum and some machining. The top is adjustable to change the angle of the camera or phone mount. Tightens on to so far works very well, little vibration https://www.flickr.com/gp/126542572@N07/fgs2iS https://www.flickr.com/gp/126542572@N07/j10JtY
  7. My daughters first job is going to be as a ski counselor at Isaihs run this summer. Great place! Eight weeks of skiing 3 times a day and hanging at a private lake helping other people Learn to ski. Can't beat that. I hope it will be a lifetime memory.
  8. I agree with@GOODEskier, I have owned an 86 skier and a 90 Prostar. I would be worried about the floor and all the seating, it is all wood construction and 20 years ago when I had mine it was already rotting so check then double check. Wake is also hard even with the Scarpa plate to adjust. The 90 prostar I owned 8 years ago was still solid as a rock when I had it and a much better wake. Probably has a slightly higher price point but worth it unless your are looking for a project boat which just equals more cash in to it. I did love my Malibu skier in the day, it was my first boat while in college in 89 and I'm still a Malibu fan today.
  9. cracked block = deep discount and it looks like it needs some cleaning overall. Less than 12k. Otherwise don't be afraid of the carb.
  10. I use mine in the slalom position all the time but hold weights on either side like I am reaching as I move around on the board. Seems to help my balance.
  11. Just joined title boxing tonight as an additional workout routine. Its not actually competitive boxing but as my wifes says I make everything in to a competition.
  12. Great video on top of the instruction from Marcus. Totally agree with the flexibility as soon as I watched Marcus discussing twisting your spine and loading it I understood why as I have advanced this year especially at the end of the season my lower back was killing me even though my form was better. Since I have been dry land practicing I can really tell that I have no hip flexibility on my offside. Are there any simple stretches to start with to get everything loosened up.
  13. Steve King, 46 years old(hard to type that...) Been skiing since I was 5 grew up a small lake in Kansas. As long as I can remember we were always on at sunrise and off at sunset. Best times to ski. 3 kids and a wife. daughter loves to slalom and now want to go to KU and ski on the KU ski team. My other 2 boys like the board sport which is fine, nothing better than growing up on the water no matter what the sport. I've been addicted to slalom since I can remember skied in the old awsa tournaments in the 80 and still have the recording of "hot summer nights" from ESPN when the MC pro tour was going strong. took a couple of breaks after getting married, starting a career and having kids but really got back in to it about 17 years ago. Live in NIxa MO just south of Springfield and try to ski as much as I can on the course at little cow at Tablerock Lake. Met a great ski bud on here,@groovygrant, and have been skiing with him all summer. My wife says I'm a little crazy. live and breath skiing if I'm not thinking about going to the lake I'm thinking about technique. I'm really hoping to make some real progress this next summer. I agree everyone on here is great and it is a great resource for tech tips.
  14. Did a little more damage than that 2 both ankles. take it easy then go to physical therapy a lot. took me about August until March then skied in April. Good luck
  15. Usually can ski up until Thanksgiving in a Shorty and top, after that.... I'm usually out.
  16. I've been try to come up with one for awhile. The attached picture shows my best design so far. Much like the others but I placed 3 dampers in different places and it seems to do a pretty good job.adjustable on all axis. I looked at making a floor mount but you still have the same problem, the height of the pole would pick up the vibration from the floor and transfer it to the camera which would mean you would have to stablize it ...with the next solid thing in the boat, the pylon then you would get the same vibrations as you woould with a pylon mount.
  17. I just PB this morning, 20 years ago I was skiing AWSA down to 32. Then had a break....kids, life etc. I've still been skiing a lot over the last 10 years but not on a course much. After getting back on a regular circuit routine again and changing skis this year I've gone from 15@32, 15@34 and now 22@ 32 in four weeks. Hoping to be running a 22@ 34 before winter sets in then go for 28 next spring. GREAT DAY!! INT league next year. Loved skiing tournaments back in the day, can't wait to try it again. When I got out of the water this morning my wife says to me " Living the dream?" I said "You bet"!!
  18. I've got a 69"senate I just got off of to progress to down the course. It's been a good ski and I agree with the above assessments. It's gathering dust so if you want it cheap pm me
  19. Last time I felt the same rush was when my kids were born and sky diving back in the 90's.
  20. thanks for all the great feedback. I have video but I think I'll wait until I get at least a few more full passes before I post it :) I agree I do think it has to do with my offside turn and getting into a good leveraged position across the wake and keeping from stopping the ski on my offside turn. I'm going out on Sunday and I'll post the video. thanks for the great feedback
  21. So I was on a flight to Raleigh, NC this week rereading the April 2013 issue of waterski mag(surprised it wasn't an issue from 2002) and saw this head to head picture. Just so you know I finally ran 15 off @34 this week (which was exciting for me) so I feel like I'm putting at least a couple of things together right. The thing that stood out the most for me in this pic is both skiers are crossing the wake and making an edge change less than half the way to the next buoy. On my onside(after my offside turn) I feel like I'm constantly rushing the turn because I'm to far down course then making it up on my onside turn. Any ideas on a good way to help me correct this issue. It's impressive that they are moving cross course fast enough to be that early to the ball. The picture is phenomenal.
  22. @kmenard....I'm good wth the fishermen, I skied with EzEd for a while and remember them sitting off five ball because they said it stirred up the water and made the fish more active. It also helps that if they are fishing in my spot(haha) I respect it, slow down and talk to them and wait till they leave or go someplace else. It wouldn't be so bad if others would do the same.
  23. The sooner people realize that it is really all about slalom skiers the quicker my life will be much easier!! The faster people realize that this IS my lake right after sunrise before sunset and any day their is no wind the easier their life would be. I don't see why my wife thinks I am type A, middle aged, obsessive compulsive eletist. I just think that when my boat hits the water wakeboard boats should know to go home. :) :)
  24. That's great, It's nice to see a pro explaining technique in a very understandable and visual format. Look forward to future installments. Now if I can just figure out a way to do that when I'm actually skiing.... Is there anyway to actually practice that stacked position at home.
