Well I'll be skiing my first tourney of the year over Mem Day weekend.  At The Ski Ranch.  The reason for posting is two fold.  First, I read this forum off & on and have posted occasionally but was just hoping to say Hi before the weekend.  This seems like a reasonalble friendly environmet here.  Hoping the tourney will be the same.  I think there's a few people here who may be at the tourney.  In fact I'm pretty sure I follow jdarwin off the dock as I recieved the running order the other day.  I could be wrong, but if correct, would you say hi just to make me feel somewhat welcome.  I'll be easy to spot.  I'll be the pale white guy talking with a north-left-coast drawl.

Second, if I have any problems with my ski during the flight (heaven forbid broken) where might be a good place to look for D3 of any vintage as a replacement?

Jim - look forward to meeting you.  Haven't seen the running order yet but thanks for the heads-up.  I'll be there all day on Friday (doing a Safety Clinic that afternoon on site).  As for environment, you won't find a better one - just overlook the fact that MS will be thereWink.  As far as a D3, what model/size do you ski on?  What bindings do you use?  I'll know 90% of the folks there and you'll find many of us willing to assist if need arises.

BTW, if you have the ability to e-mail the running order, please send it to me:  jdarwin (at) lakesatcottonwood.com

Travel safe and get ready for a good time - Louisiana style!

I just checked the running order, sure nough, you are right behind JD.

When are you going to be in town? I have heard rumblings of some practice on Friday at the site. (i am sure i'll prolly sneak in a few passes)

There are two skiers from my home lake who ski about 1 tourney a year and will be there with nerves a bit rattled on the dock. Also, my ski partner (first year in the course) will be skiing his first ever tourney on Sunday.

It will be a cast of characters with MS, Skidawg, JD, myself as well as some others there.

scoke.

I will see you guys there. Dont worry Jim. It is the greatest place to ski and the people are top notch. Except for JD/Scoke/Skidawg and myself.

If you have not had a chanch to take in some La. hospitality, you are in for a real treat. They all talk a little funny, but they are a good bunch.

JD - I'll try to forward you the running order but I thought I saw your email addy on the list.  You're two behind Emily Darwin so make sure you get her there and you'll be okay /vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif  If she misses her ride I'm sure you'll be in touble.  Right now I'm on a 67" RC, Aproach front (HO hole pattern), Animal rear with a D3 plate (hole pattern).  If there's problems in flight I'm sure an old WW or a Connelly Hook would do.  Not to worried about it really.  I am intersested in looking at a G10 plate if you'll have one there.

scoke - my wife & I will be flying on Friday.  From Washington state.  Don't get in 'til late.  Practice down there would be good (but not going to happen) as I've been in the course a grand total of 3 times this year and the water temp is around 50 or so.  I'm presuming it will be warmer there.  Hoping to get out a couple more times next week after I put the snowmobiles away this weekend.  For real.  We're in eastern WA and there's still 11-12 feet of snow in the hills around here.

MS - looking forward to meeting you.  And the rest of you tweakers.

Jim - MS sent the file to me.  They had my address as lakesOFcottonwood instead of lakesATcottonwood.  They're lot owners at my site and send me emails all the time - you would think they would have it correctUndecided.

I'll bring an extra G-10 plate w/ me.   There are so many skis and bindings laying around these tournaments (for sale and otherwise) that you'll find something that will work.  But let's stay positive - the airlines ALWAYS come thru.  Especially since MS won't be working that day!

"I'm presuming it will be warmer there."

Actually we had a cool front roll in and it's a been a bit cool lately. Water temp 84+ and Air 86 but hopefully will warm back up to 88+. we'll see or i'll break out the sweatshirt again.

two weeks ago i was boat judge in a MC with Gazer and ZO.

95%+ chose the Gazer. The only people who didn't were the high end skiers: 1 pro, 2 guys getting into 38, took ZO.

I took the Gazer as well. LOVED it on that combination. Hadn't skied the ZO on the MC yet.

MS - I may need to borrow your spray leg.  I'm hoping it's a retro lime green one (I know that's not what you meant).  Dude, I've been reading though some of the posts and the guys here don't cut you any slack.  What gives?  By skiing "not good" means you haven't made it through 39 yet this year?

I was hoping to ski ZO all weekend.  That'd be 6 more times than I've ever been behind it.  Well once in Sept of last year but... well just but.  No rides behind SG either so I guess it doesn't matter.  Got to start somewhere.  Nothing like an ELR to try new things.

Mainly though, I'm coming down for vacation, to have fun and meet a few more skiers.  Hoping it will be enjoyable.  Sounds like it so far.

Thanks for the welcome.  Jim

Bring the lime green one along.

I am a very easy target so thats why I take all the crap here. Most of It I deserve. I have never made it through 39, only to 5 ball with a nice header on the way to 6 in practice. I am struggling to get through 38 this year and will be happy to have that happen next week.

Start starving yourself now cause there are some great places that serve up some great food in Covington.
