WIskier
Which one performs better, which is more forgiving, which is easier to ski, how do they compare in the course, and what's every difference there is to know between these two skis? Thanks.
Administrators Horton Posted April 22, 2011 Administrators Share Posted April 22, 2011 Roughly - these are the same ski except for width. The Senate is .2 wider and should be more forgiving. The Vice should be faster and more aggressive. Both skis are based on the Strada. Baller eddie_roberts_jr Posted April 22, 2011 Baller Share Posted April 22, 2011 That's pretty darn close for a change John! The only other thing I'd add would be that The Senate C has a round tail to lend extra stability to It's slightly wider dimensions. The Senate C is also sporting an all carbon laminate while the Vice is 1/2 carbon and 1/2 fiberglass. The Senate C is also a softer flexing ski than the Vice. I guess that's three things. Baller_ Wish Posted April 22, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted April 22, 2011 If the Senatate C is wider, can you ski a shorter one. Similar to a Mid ride from Goode?
Baller eddie_roberts_jr Posted April 22, 2011 Baller Share Posted April 22, 2011 Yes, you can ski it a little shorter.
Baller_ Wish Posted April 22, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted April 22, 2011 Eddie, I'm 5'10" 180 ski 32-35-38. What sizes would be best in the Senate and Vice? Also are either one sa fast as the Strada?
Baller eddie_roberts_jr Posted April 23, 2011 Baller Share Posted April 23, 2011 Are you skiing 34 or 36? I would have to say that neither are quite as fast as the Strada but get the job done just the same.

Baller_ Wish Posted April 23, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted April 23, 2011 I rode a strada for two weeks. Didn't have it set up properly for the first week or so. Was not a Baller then. But it skied soooooooo easy even set up wrong. I could have skied at 28 and 32 all day without stopping. At least it felt that way. Very windy when i skied it set up correctly. Then had to give it back. :-( Want one.... YES!!! needs to be a great deal though. Skier on an extreme budget. That's the reason for the questions on the Vice and Senate? Less $$$. I take donations!!!

travnews
I will be skiing around 34mph this summer, I'm 6' 180lbs If I was to purchase a senate C. What size should I go with? Would you suggest I go down to a 65 or stay with the 67?
Baller eddie_roberts_jr Posted April 26, 2011 Baller Share Posted April 26, 2011 67" on the Vice or Senate C.
D-Law
Eddie I am 5'10" about 200-210lbs skiing @ 34 and I am thinking seriously about a Senate C. Don't know if I should go 69" or because of the extra width go down to 67". Your thoughts?
Baller eddie_roberts_jr Posted April 27, 2011 Baller Share Posted April 27, 2011 You're pretty close to the border between sizes. What size and type ski has been working for you?
WIskier
now that were talking about sizes, what is the max weight a skier should be on a 65" Senate C skiing 34 mph?
Baller eddie_roberts_jr Posted April 28, 2011 Baller Share Posted April 28, 2011 I'd say about 170 or so would be max at 34 on the 65 Senate C.
Baller thompjs Posted April 28, 2011 Baller Share Posted April 28, 2011 I'm trying 69in Vice now. Very sensitive ski to your fore aft balance. Sweet spot for turns and pulls is very, very small. Ski is very fast, but you have to be right over it all the time. I'm going to get some other skis to see if there is something more forgiving. Baller Dirt Posted April 29, 2011 Baller Share Posted April 29, 2011 thompjs, did you try moving the bindings and making sure the fin is set correctly? I have been riding a Vice for more than a month and have not found it to be sensitive fore/aft.
Baller_ Wish Posted April 29, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted April 29, 2011 dsmart, what is your full take on the Vice. I've asked this question before but little response. What speed and typical line length for you? Any inside info is greatly appreciated.
Baller thompjs Posted April 29, 2011 Baller Share Posted April 29, 2011 dsmart, thanks. When I got ski, checked fin and boots at stock settings. Could not make it to one ball on opener. Moved boots foward one hole, helped some. Added tip, then moved fin back a touch and that has helped some. Occasionally I'll run some passes, then I'm totally lost after that. It does not like any pressure on the back in the turns. Being an old school guy (trying to change), any reversion to old school and ski does not turn. Last night, I got a bit too much tip in during preturn on offside and ski skipped out. Should have got off it after first set, wasted two weeks on it. D-Law
Eddie I have been on a 70" F1 and a 68" Prophecy
Baller eddie_roberts_jr Posted April 30, 2011 Baller Share Posted April 30, 2011 D-Law, The 69" Senate C is going to have a little more surface area than the F1 and the 67" Senate C is going to be pretty close to the Prophecy. I would say if you can handle the drag of the Prophecy you can definitely handle the 67" Senate C, especially if you stay at or under 200.
Baller Dirt Posted April 30, 2011 Baller Share Posted April 30, 2011 Wish, I am not in ski shape yet and still in a wetsuit so it is hard to give you my full take yet. I have been running 34mph, 22-35off and a few 36mph 22s. I have not shortened past there yet. I have not moved the fin and bindings around much. So far, the Vice feels like the Strada but not quite as responsive/fast (big surprise-same mold). The ski feels very stable. I have been getting great angle out of my off-side turn but not as great on my on-side. I think it is my technique at this stage. Mad11 rides every ski made and is a much better skier. If he reads this thread, maybe he can post his thoughts on the Vice. thompjs, if you still have the ski and want to mess with it, try binding 1 hole back from stock and use Rini's fin numbers on the Radar website. No one ski is for everyone, but most people find the Strada to be fairly easy to ride and forgiving. Maybe the 69" is too big.
