2009 SN 196 hour meter stopped - reset steps?

Our 2009 SN 196 digital hour meter display under the tachometer stopped at 999.9. Is there a way to reset it? I checked the owners manual but no luck. Thanks.

Mine reset when I changed the battery and put in a new one. Looks great but I was honest with the people who bought it.

ECM will keep the correct hours , will not go back to zero. Just don't know how to do it. Was told by local mechanic to change out gateway box. Will have him do it.

Is there an hour function on Zero Off? Used to be, for convenience sake, you could always use the hour meeter on the Perfect Pass gauge to keep track when your hour meter went down.

 

Alternatively, you could buy an analog hour meter and rig it up out of the way so you don't have to have quite so awkward of a conversation with a potential buyer at some point.

999.9! Yep seen it before! Time to trade it in on a new one, that boat is spent!!

 

 

I am with Doug, install a analog hour meter and move on. You still have another 999.9 hours of skiing to do with that boat.

Would like to keep the displayed hours legit. Anyone have a Faria Gateway box for sale ? VIN # CTC90033H09 Thanks in advance. Don't they know these boats go 3000 hours ? Pretty lame if you ask me.

Only thing about buying a used 21 gateway box is that it will already have hours in it also may not be 999.9 but it will have some hours in it

Have same problem on my 07 196. My dealer contacted Nautique and was also told to try a new gateway box. They did and there was no change so I wouldn't spend your money on a gateway box. Further inquiries with

Nautique and PCM have not been fruitful except that they will investigate and get back to us if they come up with anything. Only real answer suggested seems to be a new engine ECU which is out of the question.

Thanks. Good info. Will probably add analog hour meter and if I ever sell the boat will have the person meet me at the shop and get the laptop to show the hours.

Faria knows about this problem nautique was covering it under Warranty they quit doing it back in 2009 or 2010

Nothing to report from here. I do have a new mechanic that insists he can put the computer on it and tell me the hours from the ECM. I’m going to see if that’s true and will post the answer. And Doesn’t help the gauge reading though. I know my boat is over 2K hours and would like to know exactly what they are. And so if I ever sell it I can have it read again for the buyer.

Do they all stop at 999.9 hours, or only a few broken ones? I have a 2007, but have a way to go to hit that number.

Appears to be a defect in all the Faria gauges for that year.

In the Limited 196, all hour meters stop at 999.9. My 2004 did and I have installed a digital hour meter and am keeping track of total hours.

Really sucks for all you guys wanting to pop corks when your hour meter reaches 1k.
