nautique gas consumption question

I have heard several times that certain nautiques really guzzle gas. Which years/models is this true? Why is it...just not an efficient hull design or something?

The 200 has 20% more surface area in the water & burns 20% more gas

 

More than what? The 196...197s...?

On a flow meter, the 200 burns approx 30% more fuel than the 196 w/ the stock prop. With an Acme 422, you can drop the increase to 20-25%.

How much gas does the 200 typically burn for a 6 pass set? (in terms of Gallons)

Our findings were from 1.2 to 1.4 using a 422. Depends on number of falls, etc. My 196 was approx 1 gallon per set.

What motor is the consumption based on in the 200? I heard the 6.0 may actually be better on fuel than the 5.7's???(in the 200)

I know Harold Hintringer did a comparison between his 09 and a 2011. The 09 burned 1 gallon/set (6 passes, typical for Harold is 32, 35, 38, 39, two tries at 41). With the 2011, he measured 1.5 gallons/set. 5.7 343 in both boats, stock props in both boats.
