mikey
Looking forward to your review of the Freeride! I almost bought one.. Still might! I'm keeping my eye on one at a local shop. See if it goes on sale at end of summer..
DooSPX
I am halfway thinking about it myself, my ski buddy might go half and it will be fun to just cruise!
Baller xrated Posted June 7, 2013 Baller Share Posted June 7, 2013 Interest has been peaked. No beer grabbing like @Horton said though, not that 5:10 am is to early, but that work place I think frowns on beer breath in the morning.
Baller Chef23 Posted June 7, 2013 Baller Share Posted June 7, 2013 It looks like it would be fun to add to the quiver for when the course is blown out.
Joeprunc
@Horton, so its 96 F in Bakersfield, and winds are still light...no excuses. Hows the Freeride ski?

Administrators Horton Posted June 9, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted June 9, 2013 I took a quick ride on it yesterday. I now understand why Marcus rides it with a super long rope. This thing rides is like a jump ski. You get way out wide and set an edge => next thing you know you are in way out on the other side. Better still is it is pretty effortless. kona
John what size are you on. I am on the line for the 67/69 and I went for the 69 because of the slower boat speeds. Kind of second guessing myself. I ride a 67" theory @ 32mph
Baller rodltg2 Posted June 10, 2013 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2013 I'm wanting one myself for windy days and such. Who's got the best price on one ? Also what size would be best. I'm 5' 8 165. Ski on a 65" x7
Administrators Horton Posted June 10, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted June 10, 2013 @kona the 67 is plenty big but the 69 would be fun too. Remember this ski is not about tight turns. Baller_ MarcusBrown Posted June 10, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted June 10, 2013 @horton, I beg to differ. I guess I need to do another quick edit....that long line stuff is super fun....but honestly I've had just as much fun at 26/28 mph at 28 off or 32 off. Its a heck of a tool at slow speeds in the slalom course....you learn stuff about your skiing that you never knew....or that otherwise happens too fast for you to recognize, when riding your real ski. Administrators Horton Posted June 10, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted June 10, 2013 @MarcusBrown I will give that a go this week. What the 26 mph record? Baller_ MarcusBrown Posted June 10, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted June 10, 2013 haha....does that competitive fire ever stop? You're already talking records... I've been through 35 at 26 mph..... note of caution: because of the high glide factor, your timing/rythm window is narrower....you have to be pretty sharp to avoid coming inside to quickly, or over shooting the buoy too fast. Its a fun challenge...and I think a very very good training tool. Also, you may wanna try 36 mph, just for fun....been through 28 off a bunch at that speed. kona
Took my 69 freeride out to the lake this morning but not much luck. On our local lake when the wind blows we get giant rollers coming in. I was hoping from one to the next like skiing bumps in the winter and on 100' rope that is a lot stretch and pull at the handle. When they say this ski is designed for big lake skiing i dont think that is what they had in mind :). Better luck next time.

Baller Wayne Posted June 21, 2013 Baller Share Posted June 21, 2013 @Kona, I tried a 100 foot line when my malibu had some issues on a house boat trip an the only option was a seadoo 215 sportster. We ended up using a spectra wakeboard line, they have almost no stretch so you get a more direct pull. Borrowed the idea from a waterskimag article that was on @MarcusBrown when they did a lake Powell trip if I remember.
Baller ozski Posted June 21, 2013 Baller Share Posted June 21, 2013 Years ago we used our trick ski's to run right down 38 at slow speed just for fun. Give that a try sometime.
Baller TeamWally Posted June 21, 2013 Baller Share Posted June 21, 2013 So, will @Gurnett get his 2@41 30mph to ace out @Sink for the wideride record on this ski ? Is it at least 7.25 one inch in front of the binding ?
tmccrohon1
Hey all, I am ready to pull the trigger on a 2014 Marcus Brown edition freeride. I am kind of in between sizes. I am 5'11, 186 pounds. Ski mostly open water 150 plus days a season, the course about a dozen days a season. Should I go with the 67, or 69? Any input will be helpful. Thanks.
