Looking to suggestions on trip destinations

I am looking for suggestions on destinations for a couple of days to week trip. Would like to take the boat with us and be able to find a course to do some skiing. Have spent time in Cumberland in the past so that is one of our options, but am interested in hearing others. We live in SE Michigan so I would like to keep the drive to 8 to 12 hours or less.

Norris lake is nice. Similar to Cumberland but You can rent a house with its own covered dock and there are a few courses on it. You can always find glass on it. The course I found was kind of make shift- I think the pre gates were bleach bottles.

Dale Hollow is nice, rented boats out of Sunset and Wisdom.

Michigan Inland waterway is nice, 4 lakes, 3 rivers, 2 docks and you can make it out to Lake Huron.

@onamission - Issue with Michigan waterways these days is that we may need an icebreaker soon is the weather keeps on going like it is now.

@mino - I think of it as wally repellent and been looking a new dry suits.

I am at Norris right now in the big creek area. There is a course but I had to put some balls In to make it useable. The shoreline is pretty bad for backwash. Last year we stayed on the Far East end of the lake and saw 3-4 other boats all week. Big creek has a lot more traffic, but the setting in both places is great. The long stretches are nice for my wife to foot.
