Klundell
@tbrenchley absolutely crushed a 38 at the Goode tournament today and then decided he wasn't done and got a PB 3@39 it was only his 5th set on the ski. When he arrived at the dock his only response was, "Dave I could kiss you!"
tbrenchley
Thanks @klundell. It was a good day and I can't wait to get some more time on this ski. It was by far the most controlled and smooth 38 I've ever run and I can't wait to see what my neXT pb will be. I'll post the video of 38 as soon as I get access to it. Klundell
That was a very clean 38!
Baller Than_Bogan Posted August 22, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 22, 2013 Wow that was beautiful. I foresee 41 attempts regularly when you get to old man speed!
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted August 23, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 23, 2013 Well Than, @Than_Bogan, if you think it is so easy, why don't you try it now and report back. I think you will find the loss of momentum to be a determining factor.
Klundell
@ed_johnson are you trying to say if @tbrenchley can smoke a 38 like that and get 3@39. You don't think he can run the occasional 39 going 34mph?
Baller Garn Posted August 23, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 23, 2013 Great skiing @tbrenchley! You should come down to Utah Lake one day and spend a day with us. Doug said he had a great time when he went up to Pioneer with you guys.
tbrenchley
Thanks @Garn, we'll have to do that one of these days (most likely next summer)
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted August 23, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 23, 2013 @Klundel....Not referring to tbrenchley's skiing at all...Thought he skied "GREAT." I was referring to Than's statement about "Old Man Speed" which is normally 32 mph..The derogatory term used for 34 MPH is Girls Speed. The point being that it sounded like Than thought it would be EASY to run 41 at 32 mph...It's not...No one has ever done it...The record is held by Rich Lambert, at 3.5 @ 39..Rich is a excellent short line skier and a National Champion many times over. The lack of momentum you have at 32 mph really shows up at 39 and 41, and makes it a lot harder than most people think it is.
Klundell
@ed_johnson I'm sure you are right about 32 MPH. The lack of momentum would really be a problem at shortline. At 34 MPH however I think 39 is an easier battle then at 36.
Baller Than_Bogan Posted August 23, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 23, 2013 @ed_johnson Wow, bit of a leap there! :) tbench is moving into M3 soon, so I figured he'd complete 39 @ 34mph. Never said nor implied any success at -41 nor @ 32 mph (which he's like 25 years from). And finally, who said anything about easy?? As far as I can tell, -39 is impossible @ 34mph. But he looks good enough to get it done!!
Baller Than_Bogan Posted August 23, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 23, 2013 Also every person I've ever heard refer to old man speed was talking about 34. Must be different coventions in some parts I guess!
tbrenchley
Ok looks like we @klundell are going to have to do some "girl speed" and "old man speed" competitions later this year and post the results
Baller 6balls Posted August 24, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 24, 2013 Line length is a funny thing. I thought coming out of M2 as a guy who could run 35 that 38 was going to be duck soup at 34 mph. This was solidified by my first 34 mph tourney a few weeks after the speed change where I was owning 38 until an over turn at 4 ball. Last season was the first that I ran more than 2 complete 38 off passes in a SEASON!! I ran better than 15 and got one in a tourney. This year more than half way down 39 for first time ever but this is 6 years from where I thought I was about to do some serious damage entering M3. Tough sport. Baller Ed_Johnson Posted August 24, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 24, 2013 WOW, if you Guys are calling 34 mph at 35 years old Old Man Speed, I hate to think what your calling the Mens 7 Guys at 32 mph...That must be Foot in the Grave Geezer Speed !!! This is a Tough Crowd !!
