Baller SusanT Posted December 7, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 7, 2013 We've hit our 4 weeks of winter here in the AZ desert. Highs only in the 50's this week, back up to 60's next week. But out at Lakeside, the water coming in the lake form the well is 65 but the night air chills it. Current water temp 60, so getting ready for a 3 or 4pm ski set. Water was still rather nice last weekend at 64. Looking forward to hitting the slopes in 2 weeks.

Baller_ DW Posted December 7, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 7, 2013 Polar Bear Ski in SE Michigan, also a great cause the ADA (American Diabetes Association) - 23 air / 32 water (mostly liquid). Snow ski hill open to get that twin in. PS: great way to spend Pearl Harbor Day, a salute to those that fight for our freedom to partake..
Nick Sullivan
Lake is frozen solid now. Went and started the boat and ran it in the boat house a bit. That's as close as I'm going to get for a couple days.
Baller Andy Posted December 8, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 8, 2013 @DW where did you do the polar bear? I'm on the In/Mi state line.
Baller_ MISkier Posted December 8, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 8, 2013 @Andy, they had two Polar Bear events today. One at Silver Spray Sports (Nautique dealer) in Fenton, MI and another at Skiers Pier (Malibu dealer) in Waterford, MI. I skied them last year, but couldn't go today. It was about 20 degrees warmer last year. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller OldGuysRule Posted December 8, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 8, 2013 Speaking of Polar Bear events: Kevin Day and the Missouri Disabled Water Ski Association sponsors a New Year's Day Polar Bear Water Ski event each New Year's Day on the Mississippi River by the Arch. Participants include tubes, barefooters, air chairs, trickers and more. One year we had to dodge logs and icebergs! He usually advertises on Ski It Again in mid Dececember. Baller_ Wish Posted December 16, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 16, 2013 Pinched nerve in hip has me sidelined. Pulled my buddy on almost glass water at 68 degrees water temp. Man did I want to take a set. Good that he got to go though. Maybe tomorrow. What the hell do ya do with a pinched hip nerve anyway.

Baller_ RichardDoane Posted December 16, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 16, 2013 @ob - that's the pancake chef, near the corner of 156th and Pacific Hwy, just north of the airport. The Broho was frozen pretty solid last week, but Scholl told me today that it's still 3" thick at the south end, hopefully warm temps and some rain this week will fix it

Baller ForrestGump Posted December 17, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 17, 2013 If it's mid 60s+ and the sun is out, I'll ski. I've got better things to do than freeze my butt off in 50s.
Baller dbressel Posted December 17, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 17, 2013 Still skiing in the middle of California. My wife and I have been skiing every day since last Friday -- water 45 and air 60ish; every two passes stop to warm hands and body with hot water shower and having ice chest with warm water to thaw make it very doable. Baller Cam Posted December 18, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 18, 2013 Air 50 water 43, strong crosswind and first set in 5 weeks, but still enjoyed it . Can't believe how warm it is, usually having to break ice at this time of year to get a set in.
Baller BRY Posted December 18, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 18, 2013 Air 77 water 72, firm head/tail and first set in 3 days. Started wearing a 2/1mm top at the beginning of the month. Don't think the full suit is going to make it out of the closet here.
Baller_ Wish Posted December 19, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 19, 2013 A bit chilly (air 45 water 64) for FL but we skied this morning anyway. Was a 12+ head tail. Did my first @Mapple Training System ski set. I like what he wants me to do (more on that some other time some other thread). It worked very well for the conditions and I know it would not have gone that well with my own plan of attack. Plans to ski Fri and Sat mornings. I will ski 3-4 sets all winter. That is the goal anyway. Camaro Rocks!!
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted December 22, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 22, 2013 water was barely 40, air of 43, at least it wasn't raining got my Pink Vapor back after someone had been demo-ing, so I rode both, sweet day at the lake

bigtallweed
Skied today on glass here is south western Canada. Air and water 40 degrees f. Someone needs to make a winter water ski glove. bigtallweed
Thanks @richarddoane, I need to try that. I'm good in the high single digit Celsius but below 6 my hands loose feeling. Great to have the Sanger Outboard Barefoot so I don't have to winterize. This will be my 3rd time in the Dry suit. I really don't like it. It makes me a little claustrophobic. Baller_ RichardDoane Posted December 29, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 29, 2013 @wish - quite a bit different at Radar Lake today, water felt less than 40, air was less than 45, but no wind or rain, which made it a beautiful day at the lake, @eleeski - some day I'll make it to your shrimp farm and ski around the buoys and find out what I've been missing ! Baller OldGuysRule Posted December 29, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 29, 2013 Warm weather brought out the skiers in southern Indiana today. We all had to stay away from coves that were iced over! Some skied the course at Sawmill and I just cruised at home! Water 40 and Air 50. Snow coming tomorrow! Happy New Year!
