Al Frosini

Al Frosini has passed away at the age of 96. As a founding member of the Berkeley Water Ski Club, Uncle Al introduced hundreds to the sport and was a true ambassador. He will be missed.

I ski tournaments because of Al. A great guy and a true asset to the sport. I will remember him fondly.

Even non-West Coast people will remember Al. One of those few remaining people in the sport who were/are older than the sport (born pre-1922). Another notable recent passing was Banana George Blair.

Al was one of a kind. From having some of the funnest stories I have ever heard even when you hear it for the 100th time or always having the time to give somebody a ski ride, he will be sorely missed.

I had the pleasure to meet Big Al on my first trip to the US and was taken to Berkeley with Mark Solich who worked at Connelly, my sponsor, at the time circa 1983 to ski together. He was such a larger than life character and incredibly hospitable and funny. he really left a big impression on me as a young 18 year old. I am thankful for meeting him and my thoughts are with his family RIP Al
