ToddF
If you are spending that kind of money are you buying a new boat or a Car
Baller Chef23 Posted December 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 19, 2013 I am not buying either but I would be more likely to get the boat.
Baller skihard Posted December 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 19, 2013 I'm with @Chef23. There are too many good deals out there for things without buying brand new. Heck for $60K I could get a damned nice boat and a truck to pull it with! Probably all new accessories for teh boat too! :)
Baller 6balls Posted December 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 19, 2013 Agree with both above posts...won't spend $60K on a boat or a car. High-end used vehicles with warranty for far less, and maybe a ZO boat once they depreciate to a range I can accept.
Baller Skoot1123 Posted December 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 19, 2013 If I had money to "burn" maybe, but I'll take a used boat, car or truck that I can be picky about before I spend 60k.
Baller Marco Posted December 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 19, 2013 My vote would have been different had I won the Mega Millions jackpot on Tuesday like I was planning on...
Baller_ The_MS Posted December 19, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 19, 2013 I would spend a lot, lot less on a car but at this point I would never come close to 60K for a boat when you can retro the greatest boat ever made (196) to ZO for under 25K. Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted December 19, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 19, 2013 I have been known to pull a 60K boat with a $800 truck!
Baller Monkstr6100 Posted December 20, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 20, 2013 I pull my 2006 Gekko GTR with a $800 1987 Bronco II! I get some looks for sure, not usually a good thing. Ha. My Wife even makes fun of me. So def not spending 60K on either anytime soon, but if I did, it would be the boat.
mateja
I would definitely spend more on the boat. My 2010 LXI towed with a '96 Explorer...I'd say my priorities are about right.
Baller oldjeep Posted December 21, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 21, 2013 @mateja - maybe a couple bucks for some airbags would be in order. That poor explorer looks a little unhappy with the load.
Baller_ Wish Posted December 22, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 22, 2013 Haha, that reminds me, I pulled my 87 Supra Comp with a 4 cylinder stick shift compact Mitsubishi pickup. Now THAT was an unhappy tug...especially at the ramp. My priorities have not changed. The boat is worth more the driveway vehicles combined.. Baller Ed_Johnson Posted December 24, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 24, 2013 Already did !!! CC200 Team Edition 6L with Custom Tandem Trailer that has 12 delivery miles on it and sits on blocks in storage...Wife said, now that you have retired, pick out your "LAST NEW BOAT"....... So I did !!! PS: You married Guys know exactly what I'm talking about.
Baller oldjeep Posted December 24, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 24, 2013 I tell myself that there is no way I would spend that on a boat, but as I keep looking I realize that what I really want is going to cost that much. Hard to think about spending 60K on a toy when I think about what we paid for our house 16 years ago.
Baller Chuck_Dickey Posted December 24, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 24, 2013 Buy a Promo boat for less than $60k, it will help promote the brand, our sport and the industry in general. A number of us across the country can get you in a Promo boat for far less than MSRP. The new Prostar can fill that dream easily!
Baller oldjeep Posted December 24, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 24, 2013 Yup, if I wanted an inboard rather than a V-drive it would be easy - ski boats are dirt cheap by comparison. One of the guys I ski with is selling a perfect 2012 Promo Mastercraft and there are plenty of Malibus around here.
Baller GOODESkier Posted December 24, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 24, 2013 In my world garages are for toys. Cars sit outside all year round. A car is a transportation thing. A truck gets my boat in the water and my snowmobiles to the mountain. I take care of them, but I want to spend the least I can on them, so there is plenty of toy money left. This is my philosophy! Baller GAJ0004 Posted December 25, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 25, 2013 I would not spend 60k for a car which is a depreciating asset, especially in northeast OH and PA. It will just get eaten up by the salt in the winter. Even two sided galvanized steel is not safe in Ohio. If you see a loaded salt truck and the salt has a blue tint to it, that is the stuff they add to melt the snow in colder weather. That stuff also eats your car. My last car had a hole in the rocker panel below the right rear passenger door which was 9 inches long and six inches wide. It had 150,000 miles on it. I start with the base model and add only the features I want. The only luxury feature that I prefer to have is leather seats. Chrome wheels corrode and leak. I will never get them again. I refuse to have a car payment higher than $300 per month. If I bought I new boat I would spend the money to get something good that will last. At 60k for a boat it would be the last one I ever buy. I would still get the base model and add only the features to make it a total high performance water skiing machine. No bling..
ToddF
I guess I have to vote car, but 200 mph and 662hp with a factory warranty is pretty awesome.
Baller 6balls Posted December 25, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 25, 2013 @Toddf my garaged vehicles I consider practical toys as well. 8 doors, 2 trailer hitches, both AWD, 889 hp combined, CPO warranties, and the pair were bought low miles for 1/3rd original MSRP. The more powerful of the two is 507 hp...what are you driving with 662hp??? My former vehicle was a Dinan M5 that would hit 191...not bad for a 4 door sedan! While I never saw that number personally...I bought that one for $22K in 2008 and sold it earlier this year...that car was an exceptional performance bargain...though the rear tire tax was high :)
Baller_ DW Posted December 25, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 25, 2013 Hmmmm: TXi wait 911 uuh Prostar damn ZL1 hold it 200 or maybe M6.... suddenly "honey, wake up time to go pay some bills...." :(
elklaketom
that number is way out of my range but would rather have a nice boat and a basic car
ToddF
@6balls. 2013. GT 500. I think living somewhere we could ski year. Round a new boat would be a more reasonable option.
E_T
Buy a sports car i can drive all the time. I just surround my self with friends that will spend the money on boats
