Baller skiboyny Posted August 17, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 17, 2014 Hey everyone, been skiing a HO A-1 and really like it, but have always wondered about the A-3 I know it's quite a bit different from the A-1 design wise. For those that have skied both comparisons?
jaredH20
I skied the A1 a couple of years ago, fun ski but I thought it was very twitchy and popped the tail in the turn a lot. The A3 is much better, more user friendly & more stable, Def worth the change
Baller Ali Posted August 20, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 20, 2014 I too made the change from A3 to A1. Faster and not as much work. I recommend the change. I liked my A1 and improved on it too.
Baller Chef23 Posted August 20, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 20, 2014 I skied on the A1 and tried the A3 and I wasn't a big fan of the A3 but I skied on last year's version not this year. I found last year's A3 to be nervous for me and not as comfortable as the A1.
Baller webbdawg99 Posted August 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 22, 2014 I skied the A1 for several seasons. I got one of the early release A3's and couldn't run back to back passes on it. After wrestling with it for weeks, I sold it and went to the Quest. For those of you that read my "Nationals Nightmare" thread, I pulled the old A1 out of the closet to use until my new Quest 45 arrives. I had just started running 38 a couple times before Nationals. After pulling out the old A1, I ran 38 after only a handful of sets. I still think it's one of the best skis I've ever been on!
Baller skiboyny Posted August 23, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted August 23, 2014 Thanks everyone for weighing in. I think I'm going to have a tough time getting off the old A-1!
Baller jipster43 Posted August 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 23, 2014 I've heard rumors that most of the HO team is skiing on the S2.
kstateskier
The A1 turned like it was on rails, had great cross course speed and generated great angle. The A3 (IMO) felt sluggish, never felt like it was free of the boat but did generate angle.
