Baller wtrskior Posted October 26, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 26, 2014 Want to build a rack inside my home (basement) for skis. Looking for simple, attractive and non-permanent solution to getting skis off the ground and against the wall. I've seen some photos of guys ski shops, so post up your ideas and photos of your ski and board rooms.
bogboy
@wtrskior tree of your choice rip cut in half, with branches counter sunk at slight angle up for the racks. Hope this helps.
Chuck_Dickey
I have since changed to larger wheels and put a floor on the bottom to hold ski bags and stuff. I keep in in my garage and roll it out to the dock. Easy to roll around to make sure I keep my gear in the shade. Plenty of cross bars to hang rash guards, vests and assorted neoprene items. Baller oldjeep Posted October 26, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 26, 2014 Mine is on the ceiling above the boat. Just a couple boards hanging from bike hooks. Keep meaning to make something more permanent but it works fine. http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/WP_20141024_002s.jpg
matthew
I use metal shelving racks with foam on the shelf arms.
Baller ToddA Posted October 26, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 26, 2014 I do the same as @matthew, nice and low profile, nice and adjustable as needed. I use foam pipe insulation over the shelving rung to protect the skis. ToddA

Baller wtrskior Posted October 30, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted October 30, 2014 @jimski I think we have a winner! That's the kind of simplicity I'm looking for as it will be going in my basement, against white drywall. What did you make it out of?
Baller jimski Posted October 30, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 30, 2014 @wtrskior 2x4 ripped down on the table saw and some 3/4 inch doweling make each piece individually and screw it to the wall at the spacing you need
