Administrators Horton Posted December 13, 2014 Administrators Share Posted December 13, 2014 The ranking is done from a a sum of the highest scores at an E,L or R event. (IWWF Data). I only took scores of 38 off or shorter to keep the data set manageable. Baller Brady Posted December 14, 2014 Baller Share Posted December 14, 2014 Dang @Horton. I was looking for my name but then realized you only went to 403!!!! Next time could you please continue the list to 1,403 and then I will get to be on te list!!!
Baller 6balls Posted December 14, 2014 Baller Share Posted December 14, 2014 @brady the problem is your dominance at class C events is not accounted for in this list. You have to go ski some record tourneys and show 'em what's up.
Administrators Horton Posted December 15, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted December 15, 2014 @rico in the last 3-4 years you have improved more than any other adult skier I know. I am counting the days till you beat me so I have a reason to really start cheating. Baller GOODESkier Posted December 15, 2014 Baller Share Posted December 15, 2014 242 ....... not bad for my first year skiing AWSA......... Need to catch up and pass @OB though....... @richarddoane is pretty far ahead....... need to run 38 more than in practice I guess to catch him. How does this list work? I only skied 2 record events, C events are just closer to where I live I guess..... Big Dawg Seattle was a record event right? How does that list work. Administrators Horton Posted December 15, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted December 15, 2014 @GOODESkier the real purpose of what I am working on is a better elite list. The 55k list uses the same rules (for this part of the calc). Much like the USAWS ranking list I take 3 scores per skier. On the USAWS list they return an average and deduct a % if you have less than 3 scores. My list is simpler but sucks for you. I took all ELR scores at 38 or shorter / found the top 3 per skier / added the scores and sorted on the sum. So if you only have 1 or 2 ELR scores your ranking score will be pretty far below your skiing level. I may or may not tweak on it more. The current data is missing scores into 43. It looks to not impact the rankings but i will get it right and republish. Now that I have worked out the process I might extend the list down further to pick up scores a longer line lengths. The source data is 40,000 lines long so I have to keep it manageable. Supporting Member Than_Bogan Posted December 15, 2014 Supporting Member Share Posted December 15, 2014 I might have a shot at being dead last! I believe the only R round I did in 2014 was a score of 2.5...

Baller GOODESkier Posted December 16, 2014 Baller Share Posted December 16, 2014 @horton so..... with a penalty I am 242...... I AM TRYING TO SKI MORE R's NEXT SEASON! SWEET! I'll take that. RUNNING 39.5 someday! Mark my words!
Baller Razorskier1 Posted December 17, 2014 Baller Share Posted December 17, 2014 I've literally never skied anything but Class C.
Administrators Horton Posted December 18, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted December 18, 2014 @Razorskier1 honestly there is no reason to pay for an ELR. This list mostly exists because the data was available & because I think it is kind of fun. The upside is its course the expectation that driving and officiating is of a higher caliber. There are no guarantees. Baller Razorskier1 Posted December 18, 2014 Baller Share Posted December 18, 2014 @Horton -- if I had more time and more money, I'd like to "tourist ski" at some of the fun sites and Pro Ams around the country. I think that's still a pipe dream, and by the time I have the time and the money, my body will be cooked.
Baller santangelo Posted December 18, 2014 Baller Share Posted December 18, 2014 An AWSA Rules Amendment Form has been submitted to make entry on the Elite Rankings list possible only through ELR scores. As I understand it, this would put it back in line with how it was prior to the rankings list, back in the EP days. This doesn't necessarily mean the C scores won't count, but ELR scores required to enter/stay on the list. How the rules committee actually implements the rule is TBD, but it has received strong support so far.

Baller MattP Posted December 18, 2014 Baller Share Posted December 18, 2014 @santangelo ok so level 9. "Elite List" to me and most others would be the World Elite List
Baller santangelo Posted December 18, 2014 Baller Share Posted December 18, 2014 @MattP agreed that World Elite List is better indicator of 'elite' skiers as the specifications are tighter, which is the reason for this AWSA amendment/request. Baller GAJ0004 Posted December 18, 2014 Baller Share Posted December 18, 2014 I am not even close to getting on the list. I am currently not qualified to ski in Men 4 at the 2015 regionals. Can't make the trip anyway since I will be working..
