Opinion on a direct drive

So typically I'm cheap, I'm not an impulse buyer. I like to research, take my time, watch for the exact deal I'm lookin for. Recently I've had a buddy offe me a 92 brendella, 5.7, borderline pristine cond, right around 300 hrs for under 7k, I've been watching boats from that 5-10k range for a while now, any specifics on the brendella I should look for? Any type of boats in that price/year range that stand out more then others?

@DmaxJC_ski: You might try calling Mike Brendella at MB boats and ask him about that boat. A friend had one and always said good things about it.

I had a 93 Hydrodyne Comp that had a sweet wake for slalom, and a great wake for trick and wake stuff.

Looking for older boats I would shoot for all composite hulls (wood free).

Wood thats laminated in the hull will eventually rot.
