PTM mirror housing question

A question for you guys that have the PTM mirror. The 140 deg can be had with either aluminum or polymer housing. I am not concerned about looks, just need a good mirror. Is the polymer sufficient to stabilize the mirror, or is the metal housing needed? If performance is the same the price is much more attractive for the polymer.

On my second season with polymer. and it's still as solid as the day I put it on. I went with polymer cause it matches my black trimmed windshield better anyways.

x2 on the polymer. Plus it matches my polymer mirror and black trim.

Polymer for me as well and it spent almost a full year in the weather uncovered and it doesn't appear to be faded or bleached.

Two questions I didn't ask. Are you guys using the carbon fiber bracket with that, and who is the vendor with the best deal?? Thanks again.

Perfski.com and as far as the bracket. It's black. I don't even know for sure what it is.
