scottd1326
I wear contact lenses while skiing that readily absorb water. So much so that one drop of water in my eyes lasts for several seconds and makes it appear as if I'm looking through a magnifying glass. Makes it very tough to see the buoys until things are clear. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a favorite set of goggles or glasses that might alleviate this problem, and if so, what type? I've tried swim goggles, but they distort my vision so much as to be worthless. Thanks for any help.
h2oski
Bomber floating eyeware with a floatie strap works for me. I don't think I've lost a lens since I started wearing them. Great for preventing glare too.
Infinite5ths
My ski partner just bought a pair of SeaSpecs http://www.seaspecs.com/ I think they were recommended by folks at Coble Ski School. He loves them. Info about the prescription version is on this page: http://www.seaspecs.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=
Baller OldboyII Posted August 1, 2015 Baller Share Posted August 1, 2015 I use Kurtis surf goggles. http://www.kurtisusa.com/surf-goggles/ Very light and soft. They come with extra neck leach so can't lose if washed away after falling.
Baller oldjeep Posted August 1, 2015 Baller Share Posted August 1, 2015 Your favorite pair of impact resistant sunglasses and croakies. The 2 pairs of Bombers I bought last year give me a headache, but others seem to not be bothered by the fuzzy lenses.
Administrators Horton Posted August 1, 2015 Administrators Share Posted August 1, 2015 I have used bomber for over 10 years. Administrators Horton Posted August 1, 2015 Administrators Share Posted August 1, 2015 @oldjeep I am not sure I would use as sunglasses but to ski in they are great. They are cheap lenses. Baller_ Wish Posted August 1, 2015 Baller_ Share Posted August 1, 2015 Walmart $6 polerozed sports shades by Berkly (yes the fishing company). Found by fishing gear. Walmart also has stretchy rubber tubing (bunch of neion colors making it easy to find) spacifically for sunglasses. Just have to cut it in half for better fit. Done..total $7. I've only lost 1 pair in 5yrs
Baller rodb Posted August 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted August 2, 2015 I use bombers just put them on no strap. Have only lost one pair in about five years. Baller Andre Posted August 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted August 2, 2015 Do you use water repellant on the lenses such as Rain-X or similar? My ski finish in 16.95 but my ass is out of tolerance!
Baller jdk99 Posted August 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted August 2, 2015 Get LASIK. Worth every penny and then some.
Baller oldjeep Posted August 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted August 2, 2015 I typically wear either my Optic Nerve ski sunglasses ($60) with croakies, or some $20 ACS polarized safety glass sunglasses from home depot. Both have good optics - I'm not going to put bring along a good pair and a crap pair for skiing. Lost one set of the Optic Nerves this year because I was going up on 2 with my little niece , forgot the croakies and grabbed her instead of the glasses when we went down. Sunglasses are the cheapest part of this sport, so I don't worry about them too much.
mopowpow
Oakley water jackets, if they still make them. I added a croakie for flotation.
