Animal Boots ?

Hey ballers.

I am considering to switch my bindings and my friend told me how great the animal boots he demoed were.

So my question would be if anyone here has some experience with those bindings and if so : what do you think about them ?

I liked the older rubber overlay better than the newer stiff overlay. Never got used to the new setup. Bought a few extra size 12's and then went to Strada boots a few years ago.

Broke my foot in one years ago and switched to hardshells with a release.

What level skier are you and what bindings are you on now.

 

The Animals are good solid rubber boots but are older technology. If you are going to make a change it might make sense to look at something newer. If not interested in hardshells a boot like the Radar Vapor is pretty easy to migrate to from rubber and I feel is more comfortable, better performing and safer than an Animal.

Spent 15 years in animals....a good boot that works. Last year I switched to vapor bindings, they are a lot more comfortable and work great.

I was using Animal bindings and destroyed my ankle, lost most of the season. I switched to Goode hard shells and have great success with them. I did try the animals again this summer and they felt terrible, it was like there was no connection to the ski compared to my hardshells

@Chef23 At the moment I am using some O'Brien X9 bindings that were flying around sice I ordered my ski without bindings (superlight TX).

I also have a pretty good deal on some xMax bindings ?!

 

And hardshells are prob too much for me right now since I only got into the course about 1 year ago.

I've been on D3 T-factor for a several years. There similar to the animals but I feel like I have much more control over the ski because of the taller High wrap. I don't tighten the laces really tight so pretty comfortable.

@ A_B is +1. I used the old rubber overlays for years, and they were ok.

The newer stiffer ones were not very comfortable, and a couple of Wrenched ankles.

 

I would only come about 1/3- 1/2 out on a bad fall.

 

Radar Stradas have been great!

I was on animals many years ago. Switched to Radar stradas (now vapor) and liked them a lot more. Better control, fit and warmer which is nice for early and late season.

I would consider the Vapors. I think that is a better choice than the Animals and ability wise they will carry you a long way. I am not familiar with the xMax.

If you want rubber boots with some forward lean and a locked in fit, the Animals are great. For more forward lean, and a whole different locked in feel, I prefer the Radar Strada/Vapor
