ToddF
Over spring break I might be heading down to Bakersfield to look at properties on the plethora of ski lakes. A Possible retirement/vacation spot. Is there anything fun to visit or do around Bakersfield or surrounding areas, other than hang out at ski lakes? Thanks Todd

Administrators Horton Posted March 17, 2016 Administrators Share Posted March 17, 2016 @toddf not much fun here unless you want to go into the mountains or the race track. Let me know when you are coming down. Elite Skier ColeGiacopuzzi Posted March 17, 2016 Elite Skier Share Posted March 17, 2016 like @Horton said not to much to do in bako. I'll tell you though some of the best skiing you will ever get is down here. @ToddF Radar Skis Follow Instagram

Baller Wolfeie Posted March 17, 2016 Baller Share Posted March 17, 2016 You don't want to retire in Bakertucky. Great place to ski, but if you want to see the long term effects of living here just look at Horton. If you like to fish the Kern River and Kernville are about 90 minutes away. The have a AHL Hockey Team, Six Flags amusement park is 45-50 minutes, Vegas 4 hours
Baller eddie_roberts_jr Posted March 17, 2016 Baller Share Posted March 17, 2016 Six Flags is only about 45 minutes away up the Grapevine.

Members TDL
While you're scoping out Gurnett Lakes, make sure to hit the adventurous restaurant scene in Arvin. Mountain biking up the Sheep's Trail is nearby, or you could hit Kernville for world class trails. I disagree with some of the previous comments about Bakersfield. There's actually quite a bit to do there. I miss out on countless events because of lack of time and money. The Kern River Bike Trail is a real gem also.
