Jcamp,

The rest of the story.

We fully intended to do live scoring for this event. We had about 30 skiers lined up all ready to ski. As Bishop said, laid back but very high quality setup for the skiers to run buoys. We knew how important the LCQ event is and was to the outside world.

Nautique had two very nice 6.2l boats decked out for the skiers. Tailwind off the dock of 6-8mph, water temp around 85.

Tuesday pm and Wednesday PM, we had tremendous lightening and storms roll through. It burnt some of our technical equipment.

We had the cameras and all the feeds setup and ready to go. Since some of the communication equipment got burnt, we couldn't feed back to the building therefore no live scoring as that's where the communication (wifi/internet) resides.

Big props to the technical team for sweating this out and getting it working. At 7:15am we were up the creek as we had no gates or videos. Feverishly worked on getting the tournament running for the 8:30am start time.

The technical team had a backup plan and we were back up and running for around 8:45ish. We started only 30 minutes late considering the situation.

Then the TC team worked all day on the issue and by 4pm we had it working again with a feed back to the building.

Without their sweat and hard work, we wouldn't have the live feed today but would have been running dark, again.

The rest of the story.

Notes about @scoke comments: That area is prone to severe weather. At the 1989 World

Tournament there, lightning knocked out some technical gear.

Today, they are also having weather challenges. But, at least it's not a hurricane...yet.

One of them is scheduled to pass by in a few days, for a near miss...or not.
