Baller Bill22 Posted October 22, 2016 Baller Posted October 22, 2016 Any of you guys and gals have a bimini top on a Lx without a tower? My Lx has a tower and a bimini. I am kicking around the idea of taking off the tower because I don't use it. Then I would need a new bimini. The only issue is would a normal bimini block access to the bow? I don't use the bow very often either. We mostly only use it for dropping people off at the dock or as a font ski trunk when we have the portable course in the boat.
Baller Bill22 Posted October 22, 2016 Author Baller Posted October 22, 2016 @Chef23 what do you have on your boat?
Baller gregy Posted October 23, 2016 Baller Posted October 23, 2016 I got a 2013 MC Prostar off of Ski-it-again. Works good and very nice quality.
Baller eyepeeler Posted October 23, 2016 Baller Posted October 23, 2016 I had a RLX with a bimini for 14 years. You are right on, the bimini does somewhat restrict access to the bow. The factory bimini that I had attached to the windshield so it was a higher type bimini instead of some of the lower mounted biminis.
Baller Chef23 Posted October 23, 2016 Baller Posted October 23, 2016 @Bill22 we run naked on my boat. No bimini or tower.
Baller brody Posted October 23, 2016 Baller Posted October 23, 2016 I don't think there's a standard height for them. I have one on my rlx and have no problems getting into the bow. I have seen some Pi s of boats where it definitely would be tho
Baller Stejcraftben Posted October 23, 2016 Baller Posted October 23, 2016 This is my lxr, I had it installed fairly close to the front of the windscreen so i had a bit more height at the back of it and it looks better. Getting into the bow isn't to bad, fairly tall people obviously struggle but I'm short so doesn't bother me.
Baller Waternut Posted October 26, 2016 Baller Posted October 26, 2016 @Stejcraftben You have a bit of a walk through bow so that bimini can work. For us LX guys, you have to climb over the dash to get into the bow which would put people on their hands and knees...................Hmmm...I've just suddenly started thinking about how awesome a bimini top would be when the girls want to get in the bow seating. o:) I have a standard bimini top that I used once before putting a tower on. IMO the bimini is great for course skiing for only a couple people. For open water with 4+ people, the bimini is a real PITA. Then again I'm a morning or evening skier so it's kind of rare that I'm out midday when the sun is really bad.
