Sorry, but after Liquid D's comment I cannot remain silent. Which of the four major pro sports played in North America was invented and first played in Canada? The answer would be Football, Basketball and of course, Hockey.

@Jordan I watched the last bit of it. Good game! Maybe a bit more active than NFL. With games like that, at least as entertaining as any NFL game.

I assume the RedBlacks are named after the very fundamental data structure known as the Red-Black Tree?

Hey, where'd the create link button go? I'll surely be banned if I post something off topic to an off topic post AND a long link!!

@Than_Bogan its better than their previous name the "Ottawa Roughriders", not because that's a bad name (kinda bad a$$ really), but because there's already another team in the CFL called the Roughriders (Saskatchewan)...

Yes! there were 2 teams in an 8 team league with the same name.... so now we get the Red Blacks

Strangely. ...Saskatchewan is called the Rough riders (one word) while Ottawa was called the Rough Riders (two words)

Might be the quirkiest league on the world.

@Than_Bogan....the previous name of the ottawa team was owned/retained by the owner when the team went bankrupt.he wanted too much money for the name Rough Riders when the team was resurrected....do they named it for the temp colors....too funny

Well, the Red-Black tree is over 40 years old and is still a very relevant way to organize data for a lot of modern algorithms, most notably in memory management.

Could be named after something worse...

OK, FYI, the RedBlack's name comes from a Lumberjacks shirt, you know the Red/black plaid, the mascot is a Lumberjack.

The Grey Cup is the oldest championship in North America and it came down to Overtime, even with a 20 point lead at the half, we all knew it was anyone's game. QB's have a huge field and only 3 downs, so lots of passing in the game.

It was a great game yesterday! Now: Go Seahawks!

And Doug Flutie grew up in Natick MA, and his parents (later) lived on the lake where I now ski.

So it turns out this thread DOES have something to do with skiing!
