The Syndicate Hardshell Boot & Binding System is the latest step into the future of competition waterski gear. The top choice of tournament slalom skiers around the world for its reliable performance, this release mechanism employs an adjustable spring loaded heel unit that allows for tension release point modification in relation to skier weight and preference. Hardshell reliability is now paired with top of the line agility by employing a 3D printed outsole. This custom contoured footbed fits precisely with the boot shell. This enables full contact between boot and plate thereby stabilizing the connection by reducing lateral slippage and increasing agility. For maximum comfort and cushioning we’ve employed a heat-moldable liner, allowing for a personalized fit that contours to your foot shape for the best fit and feel in the industry. In addition we’ve added a Velcro ankle strap to keep your liners on your feet. The light weight yet reliable snow ski inspired boot buckles allow for personalized tightening. Use the buckle ladder to tighten or spin the buckle for a more customized fit. The Memory Buckle allows you to get a consistent tightness on the upper cuff every time you ski. @skibrain my assumption and this is only assumption is - they found Boots that they really like which were originally intended to have laces on them and then they retrofitted them for buckles.

No one in the water ski industry is using a completely custom boot design

@skibrain Yes it does look like that shell. I have no knowledge so this is really pure speculation.... a boot order from HO would be big enough that they may have ordered a different stiffness or material or durometer or whatever. What I am suggesting is the the HO boot might come from the same mold but may not function the same as the one you would get off Amazon.

As far as I know there all boots on the market that are biased on a skate shell.

@RAWSki again this is PURE SPECULATION. I would assume the holes for the eyelets are in the mold. They are there no matter what.

Hi All, been in the Alpine ski world for over 30 years in the wholesale end of it. Not so easy to get rid of the eyelets, To develop and build new molds for shell is about $25,000 euro per model / per size. Once a mold is done, they are not able to change the design. As Horton mentions, you can change stiffness, color, even type of plastic used but the molds are fixed.
